    Neck reset on CV-1

Is this a source of pride?

Bill, Difficult to say for sure, but most likely overcast, moderately cool temps, highs in the mid 40's to low 50's, maybe a bit cooler overnight, persistent light misty drizzle. Who knows , in Feb it could be sunshine & 60's or 6 inches of snow & freezing, neither likely.

Is this a source of pride?

Yessir, top 15 on the list. all in the PAC NW, this is indeed the land of Goretex & rubber sole shoes. Particularly noticeable today while attending grandaughter's soccer game in Olympia. Durned chilly, winds gusting 10-15 mph, gentle intermittent mist, occasional sun breaks were...

    Late 50s maple F20 shadetop ...

Yep, maple laminate, I believe the were initially marketed a student guitars. I visited Gruhn's shop in Nashville recently, I don't think I've ever seen a comparable inventory of vintage instruments. Truly impressive, but I suspect not the place for a bargain shopper to frequent...

    Late 50s maple F20 shadetop ...

Larsonguy, I have a 57 Maple F20, it's a fantastic little guitar, much louder & articulate than any other F20 I've played. I love it. Best my memory serves, the maple laminate models were manufactured in 55, 56 & 57, changing in 58 to solid mahogany bodies. The early maple models...

    For those who kayak

A person could pick up a bit of road rash if things went bad. I had an uncle who told tales of he & his friends his friends, way back when, water skiing (sp) in irrigation canals, towed behind a 40 Ford coupe. Most of them lived relatively long lives, go figure.

    Storm casualty

Till Joe checks in, here's a local news cast ref the Fredrickson Tornado: http://www.kirotv.com/news/news/possible-tornado-spotted-pierce-county/nbBZD/. Occasionally, we get some weather here, heavy winds from time to time, some municipalities, in the Cascade Mt foothills close to...

    How's your weather today?

Raining sideways here, bad enough the birds are walking. Good size flock of ducks, that normally hangs out in the lake, has taken up residence in one of our, normally dry, surface water retention ponds. All in all it's fun to watch, from the veranda, then escape to the wood fire...

    Guild G37

I agree with Dave, G37s are darn nice guitars. Seems to me the general guitar buying public is not too keen on plywood (high grade laminate) Guilds, thus the relatively low values in price guides. Mine is a bit on the heavy side but it has a noticeably live feel & sound, considerably...

Schematic source for Trace TA 100R please

My Trace TA 100R is sick, intermittent loud "pop & crack sound" with subsequent audio fade. Can someone here lead me to a source for the schematic for my baby? Thank you, Jeff

    Hate Comedians Who "F#*k Repeatedly.

While I'm hardly a saint in the coarse language department, I'm routinely disturbed by the language our youth uses in public. Sad it is, when you take the wife & grandkids to the park & F bombs are are routinely floated about. Please keep it cerebreal here. Thanks, Jeff, Sr Mod

    cleaning gold plated tuners

I could be wrong but I don't think gold guitar tuners are actually Gold Plated, they're plated with some sort of brass alloy. Most any metal polish will clean them up nicely, but beware, the plating isn't particularly heavy & repeated heavy polishing may wear thru the plating. I keep...

Emerald City Guitars: Are they reputable?

Big D's new Showbud is on youtube, about 1:30 into this clip, she's a beauty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-GdsOO9CHg Emerald City guitars is an out of the ordinary shop, in my experience a friendly, sort of happening place. They have helped me with excellent advice & referrals a...

    New, with question.

I'll confirm lots to see in Nashville, the wife & I have been visiting a daughter & grandson here for the last 8 days. We stopped in at Gruhn's a few days ago, very cool guitar shop, lots of vintage guitars, if they can't diagnose & fix your problem, they surely know someone who can. The...

The Guild Guitar Book by Hans Moust now available for Kindle Fire Download

I used to be of the same mind set, till my wife bought a Nook, we now have no piles & boxes of near worthless paperback murder mysteries laying about, cluttering up our living space. Be advised, my wife is on Nook #5, our experience with the Nook is they are not particularly reliable.

Shipping cost for 100 pounds from Seattle to Phoenix?

Hat, These people might give you a phone estimate "Commercial Crating" http://www.commercialcrating.com/ I only know these people exist because, in a previous life, I worked for a company that routinely shipped heavy machinery & parts, worldwide.

    Long Fingernails for Fingerpicking

I was fortunate enough to attend a Doyle Dykes road show a while back, when he represented Taylor. During the Q&A session he was asked how he keeps his nails in playing shape, answer: "artificial acrylic nails".
