Hi, all. New to the forum and am thankful for all the expertise and experience shared by forum members. I have owned guitars for decades and have recently decided to learn how to play them. My favorite acoustic guitar is my 1979 D25M, even though its size makes playing somewhat uncomfortable. I'll just have to endeavor to persevere.
I have a question for those of you who are more technically astute than I. My D25 came with end pin pickup and the pickup thingy(plastic?) has come loose and is rattling around inside. Any advice about how and where to reattach it?
Wishing all a great day.

Welcome aboard, bigiron.

You might want to head over to Gruhn's and have them look at it for you!

Hard to advise you here without some pictures. Are you talking about something in the endpin jack receptacle or something inside the guitar related to the pickup?

Welcome to the forum. :biggrin-new:

To start, you might loosen the strings and take a peek inside the guitar to see for yourself what's going on. A handy tool to have is a mirror on some sort of a stick. I bought one at an auto supply store. It allows you to see the innards of the guitar.

There might be some small velcro straps in there to help secure wires or a battery.

By the way, I have a 1977 D25. Those old archbacks have are charm all to themselves.

WELCOME TO LTG, Bigiron.
Is your user name by any chance a connection to Marty's song or something else?

Enjoy your time here,

Marty Robbins is a long time favorite. Still have his album "Gunfighter Ballads". One of the songs was Bigiron, thus my user name.

I still have that one myself! A 'gift' from my Mom too many years ago. Wore that one out with playing ( Mom helped too. She played it as much as I did!) Finally bought it on Cd a few years ago.......Still great stuff. Fun to play in the car.
Welcome again Bigiron. Great user name, and great name for the D25!!!!
I've been readng a great deal about Franklin TN these days.................I'll have to visit there someday.

You would like Franklin, TN. Quaint, but really growing. Lots to see and visit in Nashville.

I'll confirm lots to see in Nashville, the wife & I have been visiting a daughter & grandson here for the last 8 days.

We stopped in at Gruhn's a few days ago, very cool guitar shop, lots of vintage guitars, if they can't diagnose & fix your problem, they surely know someone who can. The only disappointment, they are not a Guild dealer, nary a New Hartford built in the place.

Tennessee in general is more lush & beautiful than I imagined, Tootsie's, downtown, is one of the most fun tourist traps I've encountered, be advised, one should be careful tho, pretty easy to over consume the beers there, requiring a couple hours of walking about town so's to sober up enough to drive the strange freeways home.

Glad you are enjoying Nashville. I haven't visited Gruhn's since he moved to his new location. Definitely need to go by. Would have to hit the lottery in order to acquire any of his vintage Martins'.

When we had the LTG meet in Nashville, some of us drove up to Franklin it visit Artisan guitars. The owners are very nice (some of the sales staff...)

Thanks for turning me on to Marty Robbins..I just love it. Reminds me of something that would be played in a Tarantino movie. If I lived in Nashville or close by I would be at Gruhn's all the time or at least until they kicked me out, just love guitar stores let alone awesome vintage one's like that. Nice guild you have there how does she sound after all these years? look's to be in amazing condition

My D25 is in bad need of new strings, as I found out yesterday. Going to restring 3 of my guitars this week. That dreadnaught size is a real armful after mostly using a Telecaster for several months.
