it was my first "big boy" guitar when i was a kid in the 70's. i sold it just before college and have missed it ever since. I replaced it with a D-55 last year.

I'm happy with my 2022 Guild D-55, BUT... this 70th anniversary model is tempting :)

Congrats! I finally got a D-55 earlier in the year after waiting for about a year for Guild to build it :) It was an emotion purchase as I learned on a Guild as a kid and sold it in my teens. Very happy to have a Guild back in the stable. Regarding comparing to Martins, I also have a D28...

I would put them back in the cases and use in case humidifiers... just my .02

I ordered a D55 in January 2021 and received it in February 2022.... so yes, they're building guitars slowly.

If you're buying new, be prepared to wait for more than a few months, I've had a new D-55 on order through Sam Ash since February. Hoping for end of September delivery, but more likely November

Not a special order, and yes I went through a dealer, and because I've been a long time customer the deposit was minimal.

Because that's what my old Guild that I sold was. Part of this is a sentimental purchase, granted that one wasn't a 1 3/4" nut, but that's what my d28p and d18 are, and I like it because I have a big hands. I'll look at the F30. thanks.

Thank you for all of the replies. I'm looking into each of the suggestions, thanks for the advice. (So far I'm trying to narrow it down between the F130 and F150 and then between rosewood and mahogany)

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback, I'll look at the Arcos' and broaden my search to vintage/used. Any opinions on used Guild models in my price range? (Again, I'm not looking at any brand other than Guild)

Thank you for that, I appreciate it. I have been on Guild's site, I didn't want to skew the answers by saying "i'm only looking at such and such". I had hoped that someone would say "for under $1k here's the best bang for the buck" or "stay away from such and such a a model, they have problems"...

I sold the Guild I had back in the 80's for about $500, it wasn't a top of the line model, and I'm not looking to buy a top of the line Guild now, just looking for suggestions on a good quality Guild for under $1k, if that's a GAD version so be it. I'm not looking for a $2k Guild that is...
