I've added the D-55 to my sig. Guess it is a keeper.

It is far and away the best sounding guitar I have ever played. It honestly knocked the snot out of my beloved D-40 and that is a hell of a loud D-40.

Who'd a thunk it?

Hey now! How could you not keep it? When I get my hands on one, I just know it’ll be a great guitar and I’ll have to keep it just the same. They look fantastic to boot! Congrats.

That is splendid BC. Just splendid. To be able to say it is the best guitar you have ever played.. I love it. Congrats!!!
I have watched a bunch of vids on youtube where people gush over the D-55. It wins every shootout with D-28's and D-41's that I have seen on the interwebs. Granted those things are absolutely subjective.

No doubt! and I actually just watched a blindfolded sound test(got sucked in due to D55 in thumbnail), and when he got to the Guild his reaction was immediate “wow, now this one has growl, I like this one” you can ffwd to 8:35 if you want to jump right to it:

I frikkin' knew you'd love it, beecee. Especially when go a bit through the wringer to get it just the way you want it. Congrats!!!!!

I gotta tell ya it was love at first site....dimly lit knotty pine room.... cedar and spruce trees providing filtered sunlight....the black pickguard and abalone rosette.

But even with the shattered nut being held together by the force of the strings it just filled the cabin. I was giddy.

I did play the D-40 for awhile last night. It must have gotten over its mood at the new stable mate as it sounded great!

Congrats! I finally got a D-55 earlier in the year after waiting for about a year for Guild to build it :) It was an emotion purchase as I learned on a Guild as a kid and sold it in my teens. Very happy to have a Guild back in the stable. Regarding comparing to Martins, I also have a D28 and D18 and all 3 are just different, none better than another :) kumbaya :)

This guitar just keeps amazing me. I have 3 guitars out in various rooms...soon all to be banished to the humidity controlled groom...and I don't get to the room where the D55 sits often enough but last night i made the rounds and ended up there last.

Just absolutely amazing.

Ok gush over

If you have ever owned a D55 and traded it, I dare say it will make you think, "Why did I trade that guitar?" They just hang with your memory.
