Beautiful! I bet it plays and sounds great!

I noticed that the Volume and Tone knobs are laid out the "Gibson" way, though, instead of the "Guild" way, like my old T-100D. Anybody know what's up with that? Did Guild switch at some point?

I can't say for sure, but I know there were some changes. For example, some SF's had a master volume (which kinda intrigues me) but this one doesn't have it.

I sat in the kitchen for a bit and played it unplugged. Feels great - same neck as an S-100 from that time, but tighter string tension, and good resonance. Gotta plug it in now.

As for condition: it's been neglected in both good and bad ways - the good is it's not beat to death (there are some scratches and a couple spots on the back worn through the finish); the bad - it needs a good cleaning and a good setup. Some of the frets are a little dead/buzzy and the fretboard looks pretty dried out. Qvart (and Autumn - the Guitar Mama) to the rescue!

Yes. In fact I've never seen a Guild with what you call the Gibson way so I suspect the change happened a log time ago.

Very nice! Also looks like the "old style" TRC, too. From 1972? Somebody reached into the wrong drawer and pulled out an old left-over. Also note the old-style Chesterfield.

Looks just like my '69, except for the HB-1s.

You know I think that I might have owned this guitar when it was first made as I had wore a belt buckle into the back just like the little buckle wear on the back of your guitar! jim

Holy     !

Scoreasaurus Maximimus with that beautilicous sunburst Starfire X. That's right, it's too beautiful to be just a IV! A definite X! And don't think I was distracted by all that sunburst goodness not to notice the three-line Chesterfield!

Alright, I plugged it and wailed on it for awhile. LOVE IT!!! Even through my little solid state Peavey 1x12 - TONE MONSTER.

I had Hans take a look at the auction listing before I pulled the trigger and he noticed the heel cap will have to be replaced at some point:

Looks to be in pretty good shape otherwise, but I need to do a closer inspection. Besides needing a cleaning and a good setup, it's appears to be A-OK. The electronics seem solid, and it sounds sah-weeeet. I'll give it some more play time, but my first thought was that it may actually sound better than my S-100s (yes, Qvart really did just say that!).
