Hope I didn't offend.
Not at all.
It's just a personal taste thing.
Sometimes I think the very best thing he ever wrote is "In My Life"
Or else "Tomorrow Never Knows".
I can't seem to make up my mind.

If "In My Life" wasn't the greatest thing that John wrote, it was most certainly the first great thing that he wrote.

And though I wasn't in the day, I'm bloody pleased that Yoko came along.

When John and Yoko were separated, John was out in Los Angeles partying and getting chemically enhanced. When he was unruly in a restaurant with a Kotex on his head, a waitress told him to leave. He said, "Wait a minute. Don't you know who I am?" And she said, "Yeah. You're the @$$h()!e with a Kotex on his head."

Not sure if "enhanced" is exactly the term I'd use, but yep, that's what I meant by "Drunk in LA".

Guild connection to Darryl's story - that "event" occurred at a club where the Smothers Brothers were performing!

I mention the litany of woes for the San Francisco band in 1967, Moby Grape, who signed a contract with their manager....

Documented in somewhat more excruciating detail, HERE.
Couple of the original guys were still performing as "Maybe Grope" well into the '90's and are still local folk heroes.

Addie,

Do you know if Hal Wagenet still plays around the bay area?
I forget what groups he was in, but I think It's a Beautiful Day and Copperhead.

Yes to "It's a Beautiful Day" (another "Katz casualty") but I don't think he was ever in Copperhead, the big name there for me would be the inimitable John Cippolina, ex-Quicksilver Messenger Service.
AS for Mr. Wagenet's current activities, this came up on a quick google search.

Oh my, Wagenet's bio is a great reminder that sometimes it's harder to stay in the game than it is to get to the big stage.

More bad music decisions:
William Shatner "Sings".
His version of Common People is actually quite good!

Ha! I was going to bring that up as well. :D Great version with alittle help from Joe Jackson & Ben Folds. There's a killer live version of that around somewhere.

Really funny YouTube comment on the LSD clip - "It's music Jim,? but not as we know it."

:D Yeah I loved that, but trust me if, you liked that comment, and you haven't already read it, check out that link I posted about why it's a bad idea to put your friends on your record label.
The link is to some "extra background" chapters from a bio about the Airplane.
