For our family music circle I played the D50, D4-12, and the D25 tuned to open G. Played 'em all, but not at the same time, of course. Wish I could!

There were other guitars there but I didn't notice what they were.

Last night and tonight, a new to me Gretsch 5120. One of the early ones, from the pre-production run, with fixed bridge, tension roller bigsby, sealed tuners, slightly slimmer body. And the most fabulous orange I've ever seen.

Every time I go looking for a Guild, I end up with something else. This is the latest. It's a really nice instrument (but I still want a Guild!!)

The Martin D35. It's really become my favorite, since I had it properly set up to my preferences this past summer. I love my Guild, but man, the Martin just rocks.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

The Holiday Blizzard of Death has pretty much put the kibosh on everything for the time being. But it would have been my 1956 Gibson SJ and mid-1930s Kay Kraft Deluxe K-2.
Sorry about the lack of Guilds but I am going out next week to look at an old F-20 that my favorite little hole in the wall music store has gotten in.

F212 (SD Woodie / Digiverb [shoulda bought mad dog's Clark] / Gibson GA20T) to celebrate the day and as a tip of the headstock to John Fahey and his legendary Christmas albums.

Well, it may be kind of Hobson’s Choice, but I’m playing the hell out of the D40 this weekend. I’m trying out a new set of JP 600L strings and really liking what I’m hearing!

What a guitar! She really responds to flat-picking (my nemesis) but is also sounding incredibly good even with my finger-picking.

Just simple strumming sounds fantastic – she resonates for a week!

Really, what can be better than a 30 year old Guild with fresh strings? Scratch, you’re right – D40’s rock!
