I've Been playing the strings off of my Gad30 lately,.... in OPEN D. For ME a musical nirvana!!! I think that i am going to just keep her tuned there always!! :D I am just loving this great "new" sound, coming out of the guitar, and am learning new chords and songs!!!
THAT will keep me grooving for a while now! I am a happy Guilder!! Southern
The beauty of having several guitars around the 'manor' is that you're able to leave one or more in different tunings. I've said before that my wife's guitar is always in Open G....and I'm not telling!

Funny you should mention leaving one guitar in open tuning...I broke a high E string today while busking...trying to tune back up from Dadfad...good thing I had my trusty 12 string with me. I am thinking of keeping my beater in open tuning, use my gad25 for finger picking and my 12er for strumming and some pickin tunes. Having a few guitars around is great!
:D

As usual, it was the D35 (the Epiphone only gets occassional use) - with the mouth harp. Didn't dare air the combination at Arlington, but at last its beginning to come together on 'Me and Bobby McGee' with a bit of Dylanesque accompanyment to 'Last thing on my mind' :D

My JF30-12 'burst should be here within the hour. (delivered by a friend who owns property in Pennsylvania and SW Florida)
Would your friend be a 'snowbird' by any chance? It's about that time of year for the snowbirds to start leaving the northern climes and migrating south.

Hmmmmmmm.  Steffan

Tonight I'll pull down the D4-12 for a 12-string evening (twice as much fun). The D25 and D50 are packed and heading north into Canada tomorrow morning!
Steffan and I plan to do a miniature version of "Arlington Northwest," and then I have to go and chase a bunch of Snow Geese around the Fraser River delta! :D

Might be something to post tomorrow evening, so stay tuned and in tune!

Tonight it's the SF IV. Caught a bit of a chord progression and checked You toob. Found Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues playing Nights In White Satin on his SF IV. Too good not to give it a try. Also messing around with the Martin M-36 on some Lyle Lovett (God Will). I figure if I ever get to the Arlington bash I might need a couple songs from a Texan.

Tonight I'm playing a Manouche and working on a lovely tune called Nuages. The guitar is a copy of a Selmer produced in Europe in the 1930s as played by Django Reinhardt. The scale is quite long (26 1/2") and the overall tone is very bright. I don't play it too well yet but I'm working on it.

Played the Guild for a while, then I heard the Taylor calling and brought it out, too.

Just an odd knocking from inside the Taylor's case.

Love Django's stuff.... really opens your horizon musically, and mind blowing when you realize he was missing one finger!
Beautiful guitar too.... I can hear the manouche music just looking at it!

D35!!!

Just remembered this thread because I was visiting the family back when it was posted, and now I'm visiting again. In between I picked up the D35 and it made the trip up to Ohio with me.

Also playing the old Harmony Monterey and the little Dean I got for my nephew to make sure both are in decent playing condition.

Enjoy your holidays, and your Guilds! ;)

I played all of them earlier today... but will probably close with my D-35 before retiring this evening.

Merry Christmas to all here at LTG! Dave

Believe it's a Gibson 335? Not sure but he may have recorded NIWS with a Telecaster.
