these work great to my ears on a D25
i just cannot emphasize enough there is nothing better to me than a guild dreadnought and john pearse strings
John, that's a tough call. While you're experimenting, it's better not to buy bulk in case you don't like 'em. Personally, I love 'em, but...john_m said:I was thinking of starting a thread about what strings Guild players use, and lo and behold!
I've had my D35 for about two months now and I've strung it up with DAddario EJ16s. Sounds excellent, I believe. I'm sorta in that place now where I want to experiment with different strings. Good strings are difficult to find in my country. The ones I've seen here (the ones that are worth mentioning anyway) are DAddarios, Elixirs, Martins, and even then, the variety of those are very very limited. We don't get DAddario EJ19, for example.
Anyway, I've heard great things here about the John Pearse + Guild combination, but we don't get John Pearse here, unfortunately. I've been wanting to try them out, but the only way to get those is by ordering them from the US. So I've thought about ordering 5 to 10 sets just to save on shipping costs.
So, yeah, I wanna know if those are worth getting in bulk.

I'd string up this old Martin box and go and join some band.
But I guess I'll stay right here and pick and sing a while,
try to make me a little change and give them folks a smile.

EJ-26 gauge range is .011 - .052 (slightly lighter, at least at the high & low E strings)
D'Addario's website probably lists the gauge of each string in those two sets.
FYI, juststrings dot com is having a D'Addario EXP sale; buy two sets, get one free. http://www.juststrings.com/expspecial.html
I like Tony's version but Norman's overall style has more appeal, to me.Clayd25 said:
Meant as a joke, I like the uncoateds.walrus said:

I also like D'Addario PB but they do not last as well....
I used Cleartones for a while because the tone was just balls ... but only for a short while (coated but ineffectively so).
Occasionally I use Elixir 80/20 bronze. Great feel, easy on the hands and a nice tone, but thinner (tone) than the PB....
I know whenever we have these threads there is not a lot of love for Elixir -- but I keep coming back to them again and again.
