This thread is probably posted earlier, but I'm new here and I can't find it on the site.

So forgive me for any inconvenience. 8)

The question is: What kind off string do you use for you acoustic guitar.

I tend to fit my guitar with martin Eric Clapton strings .011 and they play wonderful (toninght  ). The only disadvantage is the wear quick. You have to change them every 2 months to keep the bright tone.

Now, I am trying D'Addario EJ26 Custom light .011. The EJ26 are phosphor bronze and have a long life according to the guitar shop I've bought them with. I don't play them long enough to give a review on them.

The most consistent strings I've found recently are these:

They offer the best of both worlds, IMHO.

And for the light side:

When you're a dread, you're a dread all the way,
from your first set of strings,
to your last playing day...

I concur with the DA EJ-19's! They give me that tone I'm looking for. :D

D'Addario phosphor bronze strings, usually the coated EXP-16 (6-string) or EXP-36 (12-string) sets. Also as the packaging states, "warm, bright & balanced tone".

FWIW, they are what Guild installs on new acoustic guitars at the New Hartford CT factory (though they may use medium gauge instead of light gauge).

Depends on the instrument. My Martins like Martin M540 PB lights (go figure); always used D'Aquisto lights on my '72 Guild F-30R until I couldn't get them anymore, so went with either D'Addario PB lights or Martins; my Guild F-130R likes Martin Marquis PB lights and GHS Silk & Bronze; the Wechter TO8418 triple-O mahogany likes Darco D5100 80/20 lights; and the Irish bouzouki likes D'Addario J-81 PB.
