I believe much depends on the guitar, and especially the woods with which the guitar is constructed.

I agree with this. I find PBs to be just too much on a rosewood guitar. The initial overtones cloud the fundamental note when the strings are new. But I do like PBs on mahogany. At least the guitars I own.

My OCD must be kicking in big time, because every time I look at this thread in the listing I wanna change that word in the subject to OF..... It's driving me crazy.

For a "what strings?" thread, this one has been pretty good. I've enjoyed it..... but it's about the subject line......

Y'know, I'm about as OCD as they come, and yet...that one got by me completely!

The raw naked dirty unvarnished truth is that there's a conspiracy between all the manufacturers to force us to use guitar strings on our guitars, and no other kind..

I use DAdarrios on most of my guitars, both both Guilds are clunkers with them but sound great with Martin Marquis!

Hey has anyone use Country gold superwounds,......well that's what they used to be called, now Rotosound, sort based on a piano concept, where the winding stops before the saddle, and only a single strand passes over the saddle, which makes them a little lower action wise and maybe clearer....I have not use them since the name change or someone bought the old company and re-banded them.

Prefer Elixer Light Polywebs, although Elixer Light Phos. Bronze Nanowebs or D'Addario EXP-J16s (for 6-string) or EXP-36 (for 12-string) are good, for my 2nd choice.

If neither are available, I can get by with regular D'Addario J16/J-36 or the equivalent from John Pearse, but I'll be inclined to change them sooner.

About the only strings I really hate to use are Martin Marquis...my body chemistry can kill a set to beyond redemption in about 90 minutes!

Ok, just came back from my trip to Florida and picked up three sets of EJ16's and installed them on my guitar. I must say they sound really great. They sound brighter than the martins, but have a little less bass.

But overall I'm quite happy and I think I will stick with them.

Thanks for the advice!
