Thanks Charlie, we will. I was just wanting to take it to him last night. Now with work next week, I might have to wait until next weekend. And you have a great Fourth too my brother.

West

Oh, that's a bummer, Jim, but hey... Enjoy your 4th.

: ) Thanks Tom. To make matters worse, USPS tracking shows it to be at our local post office now, so I thought, heck, if they accepted it, maybe there's someone there? So I called. A guy picked up and told me he only answered because he thought it might be one of his carriers......they're NOT open and I'll have to wait until Monday. Oh well, worth a shot.

You have a great Fourth in LV too Tom. Be safe my friend.

Oh man.....we'll have to see. The thing was delivered to my wife's office and I just called to ask if she'd had a box delivered today? She replied , "No, but I've got a guitar case wrapped in a plastic bag! I then asked if she'd opened it, and she told me she was afraid to." We'll see. Apparently this guy has never shipped a guitar. So........I may have a 3 piece guitar when I get home. Wish me luck.

I had a Mando case shipped to me like that. It was fine, but it was only the case. Hoping his ignorance didn't destroy a Guild, especially one for such a noble deed.:dejection:

Well, you did better than me. Twice now I've had a Guild acoustic shipped to me in a case only with no bag, box or anything else. One of them was a D 40 that the guy actually shipped to me from Colorado to Michigan in the luggage compartment underneath a Trailways bus believe it or not. Remarkably, it came thru undamaged.

Here's keeping good thoughts for you and your Guild. I have a good feeling about it. Post your results if you would.

Wishing you luck with it. The guy that I bought my GSR D50 Cocobolo from said he had shipped guitars before and not to worry. He put the guitar in it's case, Put the case in the Original Guild Shipping Box, and put no packing or supports in the box with it. Then he shipped it UPS Ground from Salt Lake to Houston. When I opened the box I was horrified to see no packing or support around the case. Thank the Lord that Guild had snug fitting cases. It didn't have a scratch but you could see were the case shifted back and forth in box throughout the trip. Sometimes you get lucky!

: ) Well she's here and has arrived safely. And quite frankly, she sounds and plays incredible. She's about what I expected wear wise with some bumps, bruises and buckle rash, but I had no idea she would sound like this. James will absolutely love this guitar. Now to clean her up and find the time to deliver her to James. I'll never say anything negative about GAD's again. : ) She was indeed shipped in a plastic bag, but it was sort of a padded plastic bag. No padding of any type in the case, no headstock support, nothing over the top, nothing to take up slack in the case, and tuned to pitch, but somehow, she made it in one piece.

GAD40CE Joe. Cutaway dread with a preamp. Beautiful mahogany and sounds incredible. Wish I had your photography skill. She's bumped and bruised, and just exactly what I was looking for. : )

Super news!
So what's the model # you ended up with after your search?

Joe

Great news, West! The reaction of James when you give it to him will be well worth the effort!
