Are you comparing the more recent Newark Street Guild series with
the early '00s-era DeArmonds or vintage Guilds to DeArmonds?
Either way, other than sharing a very similar body shape,
probably more differences than similarities -
everything from where and how they were built to woods to
components to finishes to weight. Agathis-bodied DeArmond M7X series
instruments are notoriously heavy.
Fwiw, the Gold Squier M77 (the Guild-ish Series 24 Squiers were briefly FMIC's
successor to the DeArmond line) in post #16 is a little over 8 lbs, the
the purple M75 over 8 1/2 lbs, and the black M70 is approximately 9 1/2 lbs.
