Ok thank you GG. Hope someone (GAD?) transfers it to it. 👍🏻😀

Looks like it has been done.

The section description changes were made in the hope that people would be able to find things easier. We'll see how that goes. For purposes of bringing order out of the chaos that is sometimes LTG, I would consider De'Armond and Madiera as Guilds rather than Other.

Congrats Okko - me too! I like the red finish on yours better. Mine started out its
life with the Emerald Green finish - can see it in a couple of wear marks.
Must not have been quite up to cosmetic quality standards as it was then finished black.

Sorry for my late reaction... didn’t notice the thing in upper side of the website or whatever The section is called up there... she looks very good. But more important does she play well. I’am not a good guitar player at all but she plays easy and has a beautiful full round sound ... (is that the correct way to say it?) in dutch we mean by ROND (round) a full warm sound..
anyway thx for your reaction👍🏻

I just picked up an S-73 off of Reverb this past week. I hate to be shallow but green is my favorite color. Good thing I’m incredibly pleased with her.

Nice. I have one in green in my review pile. Here's a quick review: It's better than any Newark St. solid body I've played.

Congrats JHurt and welcome to LTG, nice S-73!

Love my S-73s - just recently picked up a trans-red example from the original owner,
very sweet guitar, the red may be the same spec as the OP's M70.

The color on the green guitar, which I assume is DeArmond's "Transparent Teal" appears noticeably darker than
another S-73 I'd owned previously - rich saturation of the green on
the earlier one was remarkable! (last photo below).

IME, seems as if I'm seeing fewer S-73s for sale in the past year - original, unmolested / undamaged examples
getting harder to come by and - in very good condition - don't hang around in the marketplace very long, although generally still
very affordable, in the $500 range

Yeah, the Korean-built DeArmonds were quite superior to the Indonesian ones that followed.

Posts below by Ralf, all years of set-neck DeArmonds / Squires were made by Cort in Korea,
bolt-ons were made by Cort in Indonesia

I had an M-72, an M-77T and a Jetstar, all very nice guitars for the money. Mine were all made in Korea, I believe by Cort. The Goldtone pickups sound really great.

Hello, gang....

excuse my ignorance, I'm new to this forum. And been playing 50 years but I don't know these guitars.... Are the Guild M-75 and DeArmond M-75 the same guitar other than the goldfoil pickups? They sure appear to be. I have a '76 D25M, a circa '95 DV62, and now a new Bluesbird. But the DeArmond M70 and M75 look pretty appealing to me too. Are the Goldfoil PUs really that nice? I'm open to any comments, thanks.

chas, welcome to LTG!

Are you comparing the more recent Newark Street Guild series with
the early '00s-era DeArmonds or vintage Guilds to DeArmonds?

Either way, other than sharing a very similar body shape,
probably more differences than similarities -
everything from where and how they were built to woods to
components to finishes to weight. Agathis-bodied DeArmond M7X series
instruments are notoriously heavy.

Fwiw, the Gold Squier M77 (the Guild-ish Series 24 Squiers were briefly FMIC's
successor to the DeArmond line) in post #16 is a little over 8 lbs, the
the purple M75 over 8 1/2 lbs, and the black M70 is approximately 9 1/2 lbs.

Check out GAD's amazing site, with detailed reviews of the Newark
Street and vintage Guild M-75s.

DeArmond guitars were made in Korea and Indonesia (see post #14, above) and were imported. I had a DeArmond M-75 that was fun to play and sounded great, but was underused. I traded it to a working musician for a nice bottle of whiskey.

If you look for DeArmond guitars, pay attention to the pickups - people will buy the guitar, pull the gold foil or 2K pickups to sell separately, then put cheap, crappy pickups in and sell the guitar.
