I just bought a DeArmond "orange" electric guitar. Back head stock says Made in Indonesia with serial number C 001210954.
It's pretty light and has a beautiful finish.....can anyone tell me how old it is and what it might be worth?
I paid $250 for it.

Welcome to LTG Sean!

The model number is M-66.
The color maybe could be a faded Fiesta Red, is she as orange on the back ?

All the DeArmond catalogs, pricelists and specs are here: https://support.fender.com/hc/en-us/sections/115000734363-DeArmond
But I realized the year 2000 catalog is missing there...It's only shown in the price lists.

The serial number starts with a IC for Indonesia Cor-Tek and the following two zeros make it a year 2000 made one in the Cor-Tek factory.
Cor-Tek is better known for their Cort brandname.

I haven’t played one of those models, but I’ve played other DeArmonds, and I really like the Gold Tone PU’s.
Looks like you have a winner there! Enjoy it in good health.

Yes, orange all over....Fiesta Red? really? I like orange better. lol
Well if she is all orange it was probably not Fiesta Red. Maybe a run of Tennessee Orange, which was normally available for the M-77T.

OMG, you are all experts on this ax......it is all orange and I thought it was a 66? But now you think it might be 77T? Anything I can look for to tell the difference?

No, I said Tennesse Orange was a standard color on the M-77T model but your guitar is definitely a M-66. Not always everything is written in the catalogs, so there could have been a run of M-66 using Tennessee Orange.

Just since you asked, that is a M-77T (T=Tremolo...). Different pickups as well.
The main difference was that the M-77T had an agathis body with a carved maple top.

Afaik - the M-66 was the upper end of the M-6X series, which were bolt-on neck models,
believe the 66 had a carved top instead of just a flat wood slab body the lesser M-6X models had.

The M-7X series were set-neck instruments.

I didn't think the M-66 did had the Gold-Tone pickups the M-7X instruments had -
but it didn't have the pickups of the M-5X series or M-65 guitars either - they're referred to in the catalog as
"DeArmo-tron" (gotta love that name 😆).
The same pickups appeared on the DeArmond X-145.

As it hasn't been mentioned, the body shape on the M-6X and M-7X DeArmonds is based on the Guild Bluesbird, still being
produced today.

Intereresting to see that Dearmond flyer has two prototypes in the picture. The M68 and M50 have the headstock of the Korean models which were set necks. The production Indonesian models had bolt-on necks.
The M66 has a pickup that looks like a Gretsch but it may just be the H-shaped chrome cover. I think they also made a M-55 and a non arched top M66. The M50 and M55 were described as a "plywood" body. I think the production M50 had a single bridge humbucker and the M55 had two humbuckers.
The carved version of the M66 was M66C and the flat was M66.

I do miss my M77T. The headstick of the 2nd generation Dearmonds like M77, M77T and M72 was slimmer than the initial models like M70, M75 and M75T. They were also about an 1/8" thinner bodies.
The early Dearmond models also had the Guild "bump" head stock with two adjacent small "bumps" , one on each side. The 2nd generation models only had the single bumps. The same holds true for the Starfire Classic (4) and Starfire Special (3) and the T-400. The T400 should have been a keeper.
I hope that DE style model gets issued as a NS guitar!

Page 5 of the 1999 DeArmond Catalog.
Mat, those pages I posted earlier were scanned from the 2001 208-page Fender Frontline Catalog.
As you can see, DeArmond was listed somewhat far back :ROFLMAO:

I'm looking to score an M55 one of these days.

Almost. it is based on the bodyshape of the m-75 aristocrat, then they renamed it to bluesbird in the 70s. They changed the look of the cutaway in the 80s and the Newark street bluesbirds look more like the aristocrat again. 😉

This guitar popped out today for sale in Finland - only 40€ - and he says it is fully working.
But what about that headstock shape. No better pics - seller says it is DeArmond - body sure looks like my M55
