Finland’s state mascot is the Frozen American…
…retirees always “Finnish” in Finland.

Ok enough joking. I am sure Finland is a gorgeous place and well worth at least visiting in my lifetime!👍😀 It sounds very nice there.

If one was going to relocate to FLA, and wanted as close to the following as possible, where would one focus?

First of all, you don't want to relocate to Florida. 😁 Mrs. Cougar and I spent about 3 years pondering where we were going to relocate to. Florida was nixed right away. (We were looking at places all over the Pacific states and Ariz, Nev, NM.... I notice you're choices are over on the eastern side of the country... and Florida. We're East-West biased, lol.) In any case, we ended up in North Idaho by a big glacial lake. We're loving it. Days are long in summer and damn short in winter. And snow of course. Gotta have 4-wheel drive, plow your driveway, etc. It's the seclusion, though. Our few neighbors are distant and not visible.

Michigan? From Arizona? When it's a hard winter in upstate NY, you might get a smattering of -15F days, but when the so-called Polar Vortex drops down from Canada, Michigan is usually one of the targets. If you don't equip your car with a block heater, as Bob says, 'you ain't goin' nowhere'. Despite that level of cold, the mosquitoes are as big as hummingbirds.

Floriduh
Originally from New Hampshire but spent the majority of my life in Florida. Floriduh has become the state of Wackos and Lunatics. I live in Lake Mary next to Sanford. If you like hot why not. Housing is NOT affordable here. It used to be but wages suck and rents are crazy high. The Panhandle is a magnet for hurricanes much more so than the East Side but it is also very pretty. We considered a second home up north but I am too lazy. Good Luck!

So have we successfully walked you back from the Floridian ledge? No question you can do better. Here’s the bay we see from our living room windows. The Pacific is just over the rise. Not saying specifically where, since the traffic on Hwy 101 is already quite enough. Heaven forbid people stop & decide to stay here!

Those two pics remind me of one hilarious set of YouTube videos - but them being a bit political - I shall say no more . . .

I know what Nuuska means, so no video …. but I think that moving east-south - west in the USA Seems a very common habit? And it‘s not only for vacation ? I think that’s a difference with us here in Europe. We visit the countries as a vacation trip…but thinking this over , I maybe wrong. More and more People from the Netherlands move to countries like Portugal, France, Austria (not Australia :)) and even the old Balkan states. And in the Netherlands we say, that’s every that changes in the USA, will happen in Europa about 10-20 years later. I think you may delete the 20…..the internet is closing the gap.
But I didn’t know that Florida seems to change so fast….
