What I'd like to know Frono, and others, is when can we expect a day when we'll have, on a regular basis, less deaths from covid that day, than the day before.
That already would at least bring some hope. So far it almost seems like the more vaccine the less people remaining...(I know it takes time to get immune and more time to be able to see a result over a whole people too).

I'm afraid I don't have that answer. If I did someone would probably build a Shrine to me with statues of poodles and Zappa music being played all the time.

Fronobulax or Frunobulax was the giant poodle that menaced the world in Cheepnis.

I'm a cat person and if I had any clue that my username would persist for 20 years I might have put more thought into it :)

The IHME model for the United States currently estimates that daily deaths may begin dropping in early to mid-February.

I would expect that delays in getting folks vaccinated, & new variants of the cursed virus, might slow that down a bit. But it is probably the best estimate currently available.

edit: Note that this estimate compiles projections from 50 states, so it won't begin to decrease everywhere at the same time.

I think that's actually starting to happen now. I guess it's the drop off after the holiday spike, but hopefully it continues.... recent WSJ article

Too bad Frono, you've lost your chances for a Shrine dedicated to your bass playing and intuition.☺
But who knows, Geoguy and Cougar are doing well.
Thanks for the infos you both ; gives me a bit of hope still...

When is the vaccine's benefit expected to begin showing within deaths' numbers per day ?
Given the speed at which Israel is vaccinating we're likely to find this out before too long, assuming (as I do) they're a representative population. The UAE is hauling butt too.

Only cannibals follow that rule any more. They are technically, after all, hors d'oeuvres.
Your French is pretty impressive, whereas your sense of humour well.., wouldn't please everybody I'd bet (good one still)...I hope your lady doesn't speak english 😊

I had been watching Israel's datas too, but so far, several countries with rather close deaths numbers are still doing less bad ; Serbia, Honduras, Paraguay, Algeria and Ireland. Even Jordan... Only Japan among countries whose figures I had noted, is doing worse. I bet this means that it's not been long enough yet since they started, though they have done a lot already.

Shanghai Mandarin, "English Second Language". Born and raised in one of the world's oldest and most important trade ports. She doesn't always appreciate my jokes though, even when she does get 'em. 😀

Yeah I've shot myself in the foot a couple of times.:(

Tu t'es tiré une balle dans le pied...
