Suppose you have been given $10K US. You must spend it on a stringed instrument. You can spend it on more than one instrument but you aren't playing my game if you buy a guitar and an amp or maybe even the used van to haul them around in. Pretend you are going to own and play it for at least a year. Perhaps this is the "Grail" thought experiment with someone else paying so the opportunity cost is not a factor. You either get instruments or nothing.
So I think I start with a "sweet spot" Starfire I bass with a Bisonic so that pretty much means '65 or '66. Next is a a 1970 or earlier Starfire II bass, also with Bisonics. Condition would again be critical but I'm not sure whether the finish would be emerald green or sunburst. If I don't get a green one I suspect there is still some change and it would go for a pre-1971 M-85-I or II to spend the rest.
It's someone else's money so I am willing to pay to dollar for condition.
