I'd dangle $5500 in front of Oxnard's management to see if they even can build an F47Rce

Well, if they could, I'd be next in line to ask for a reissue archback maple body F-40. I believe that would bring much joy to many people. :)

Right. I started wondering if they actually still had body bucks to build 'em about a year ago.

But even more important for a true F40, the 16" archback dies for the press.

Still keepin' my fingers crossed they'll surprise me.

I think there are only two of them - the Acoustic Firebird.

Check out Archtop.com. You're bound to find one pre-war for around 6500. And Joe Vinikow is a straight shooter. Most of the guitars on his website are on consignment, and accurately described. He also has a great repair service and accessories for archtops.
Well, Rich, Even a very accommodating archtop.com won’t accept theoretical cash! That leaves me about $6500 short...

I have no clue what market value is on some of these. It's like being on The Price is Right and have never shopped before. I have curiosity about a number of guitars, but not enough to say " I'd by those right now! " if I had a free 10K.

In my experience, Archtop.com is more competitive price wise than other dealers of archtops, such as the NYC shops and southern California guys.

I thought about some fancy archtop, but then I realised I don't play a 10K archtop well. I'm OK with a NS archtop, but might be OK with a real X-175. But any of the higher numbered models would make me feel sort of over equipped and under skilled.

I have a $4000 archtop (Artist Award) and while I don't play it well the sound is freaking glorious.

So, even the under skilled can make glorious sounds, if one spends enough? I wonder if there as a formula to determined how much you have to spend based on the players skill level?

( John finds the web site that does this, fills out the form honestly and hits return.....spinning pinwheel.... Um. ) So I only have $10,000?

The timbre of an instrument is not entirely connected to the skill of the player, but a skilled player can likely play songs that make the most of that timbre.
