The (China) Guild D-240E "Designed in California"

There are YouTube reviews and plenty of other evaluations out there, so I'll skip straight to this: Sounds great and plays reasonably well for me. 1.710 nut, which is fine, but the string (slots) spacing is less wide than my other guitars with the same nut width. This puts the E strings...

Early all-mahogany small Guild sighting (M-20)

There's an early "ghost label" Guild M-20 hanging in the acoustic room of the Fountain Valley Guitar Center in case anyone's interested. I didn't see it in the vintage gear webpage, so I'm posting it here.

Neck joint dovetail geometry on Guild 12 string guitars

I just took this Guild F212XL S/N 89015 1973 neck/body joint apart and thought maybe others would like to know what it looks like, and other information. First, an observation - The Guilds I've taken apart (four from the '60s and two from the '70s) have had no dovetail shims from the factory...

F-512 Archback Brazilian rosewood with Florentine inlays.

This is a quote from another thread, so here's a few pictures of Guild 48159 (1970). Note the matched inside-outside Brazilian Rosewood arch back.

An interesting discussion of an old OB series Guild F-412

The text says "Special Order", but it looks to me like it's mostly a typical F-412. It does appear to have the pair of double white purfling lines on the fretboard. I'd say the tuners are replaced, and the bridge original. Anyway, a fun guitar. https://umgf.com/viewtopic.php?p=2719500#p2719500

What gauge strings do you use on your 12-string?

Setting up an "old-school" Guild F-312 tuned all the way up. I put .012"s on there. Sounds crazy-good to me, but it feels way stiff. I guess I'm now looking at .010" or .011" high E strings. What's everyone using these days?

Early Guild F-312 body depth - when did they change?

I notice that some old F-312s appear deeper-body than others. When did the change occur?

What was the 1960s AE serial number prefix used for?

In the Guild serial number charts, I never see "AE" designated except for 1980s SB201-SB202 guitars, but I know '60s AE guitars exist. What did AE mean in the '60s? Also, I have seen the word "amber" on these '60s labels....was that a ref to a special finish?

    F-612, "Florentine", and "Special" inlays

Has anyone here noted that the inlays referred to in the title were mass-produced and could be purchased in bulk back when these guitars were built? I was buying production inlays back then (for banjo 5-string conversions) and routinely saw these as catalogue items from my source (a supplier...

Is there, or was there ever, a Brw Guild 6 string the size of the F-312?

I guess this would be an F-40R (?) or maybe"Valencia Special".

Has anyone cut up a set of 18-1 Sta-Tites to fit on an old Guild 12?

It looks feasible to me. Anyone already done this, or am I sailing towards the edge of the earth on my own?

    Early F-312 Bridges - Ebony & Rosewood

I have a "volute" '65 F-312 which has been out of commission for about 20 years. Did 312s from this era (the AS series) ALL have ebony bridges, or were some rosewood? I think my 412Special from those days (AE) had a rosewood bridge.... Curious, because my bridge is split down the center...
