Gotta say I've been following this thread and wincing with the anticipation of a typical forum meltdown.
But, thankfully, this place isn't typical...

You guys are alright!

Cheers

Once again we have to thank Don and his team for keeping an eye but not a heavy hand on these things.

Cid and I love Jim and Kerry and Pam And Ken and Don and Darcy and Jeff and Michael and Carl and Elizabeth and Mark and David and Barbara and Doug and Norma and gosh I know I have forgotten some and I apologize for that.

The people we have personally met have been stellar human beings and friendships have been formed, from a distance, that rival those of nearby friends. It is truly unique and special. I don't want to jeopardize those friendships, however, it is very comforting to know that we can share our differences as well as our similarities.

If it gets too hot, I'll take it to a PM or agree to disagree.

Of course when all else fails....

:D

I think it's important to be able to talk, but sometimes in a public place like this we have to watch ourselves. I think we should be sensitive when people have been touched by one of these difficult subjects because as I said earlier it becomes all but impossible to find humor in it (sorry, Plaid). Then again, perhaps seeing the humor is part of the healing process. That's sort of worked for me with alcohol, but not with suicide. Maybe another day.

And, dayuhan... Wow... I am happy that that whole experience didn't end in disaster. My goodness. Best wishes!

Grot - you'd never get the chance. The poor guy would still be inside looking at the stack of cases and paralyzed with indecision trying to pick an armfull.

Brilliant, Frono !! :D

You've really nailed it:
The best way to prevent guitar theft is to have so many that the thief will be unable to decide which to take.

I'm gonna tell my wife right now.

Anyone heard from Carl lately?

Anyone??

Shirley he didn't present that to his bride.

Well she made me go to West Virginia  today.
Threatened to leave me there if I ever talked about getting another guitar.

Well, since I've made it home tonight, you can all guess the end of THAT conversation.

Actually, we went to Seneca Rocks, WV.
Hiked up to a lookout in the red circle

Goodness gracious that place is beautiful. Drove through there a couple times as a kid and have been on a business trip there a time or two......Charleston area, but the gas plants were out in the boonies. Sure enjoyed the drives to work and back. W. Virginia is a pretty place.

I'd have to say that this has been one heck of a thread.
It started out with stolen guitars and touched on pistol-packin' before traveling to West (by God) Virginia and the Philippines, and here we are in Toronto checking out the "sights!"
What a wonderful ride!
And yes, she has lovely....hips!

Thanks everyone,
Joe

:D Don't fear the veer, it's what we do best! Lost in all of this is the fact that poor Joan had 2 D55's stolen, bless her heart. I hope she has a lifetime of joyful music....and secure guitars.

I once had a Gibson Es-175 stolen from a 4th floor apartment all the while on the ground floor was a Police Vehicle complete with 2 Police Officers in it.. Amazing the nerves of steel and the courage of 200 men while on the Hunt for Merchandise to be sold for drug money. The feeling of being viloated stuck with me to the point of not being able to stay there any longer. Fairly creepy.
Another Guitar Theft story has a Just ending. It had to be the mid 80's or early 90's, can't remember exactly, but NRBQ was in NYC for a taping of that David Sanborn show. The Van was broken into and the Theives stole Al Anderson's Re-Issue 52' Telecaster and Joey Spampinato's Original White Longhorn Dano Bass. I received a Panic Telephone call from Al, so I call my friend Richie Freidman at "WE BUY GUITARS" on 48th street. As fate would have it, as I was describing the Instrument to Richie, he said, "Hold on a minute", he came back to the phone and asked me to describe the Tele in more detail, well seeing they call "Big Al" "Big Al" for a good reason, his body heat and large stature has left brown marks where the instrument would lay across his belly and upper arm. Wouldn't you know it, that was the Tele. That Guitar was recovered and the theif was jailed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Sadly the Dano Longhorn was never recovered. A sad footnote, Al had returned to NYC to record a Commercial and while parked in the street, his car was broken into and the Tele was once more in the Hands of Thieves. That explains why Al played the Paisely tele Re-issue and White Strat for a time, until he bought the Black Guard Sadowsky Tele.

There you have it.. dv52burst

I just got caught up on this thread and have one question. Are those red circles hovering all over the state of West Virginia?

You got them in your area too Doc. We have them, but they're transparent so no one ever reports them. :? Steffan

Yea Doc, all over the state. You gotta watch out. If one lands on you, as has happened to most folks in West Virginia, it shrinks down and sits around your neck ... hense: rednecks.
