Heading back to Ninfa's tomorrow evening for 'take 2'. Mixed the set up a bit and added a rather poor attempt at 'Chain Gang'. Couldn't get it out of my mind after Coastie's post a couple of weeks ago.

Jus' got home. Started out as a nightmare! Shows that I don't know squat about amps... Seems I couldn't get in tune for anything! Finally, after four slightly out of tune songs, a buddy of mine who happened to stop by with his date, said "hey the amp is distorting your sound." He turned off the reverb to the instrument channel and wow...it sounded like I had practiced at home. The rest of the evening went great. The ole Scratch has sooo much yet to learn, but gosh it sure is fun... :D :D

 I've had a tough time getting used to playing through amps Kenny. I've noticed they amplify my mistakes too!

Way to stay at it, Scratch.

I get to play twice a week at church, and rarely do things go flawlessly.
For me, every gig is a learning experience.
I think that's just the nature of live music, and why there are no live music performances on TV.

OK - in the end

Howjado?

System there is you play in the order you turn up, went round 4 times so 4 songs done - in the end. Kinda brain dead when I got there though (spent hours painting the kitchen) and had a total memory blank in verse 2 of my first song (Proud Margaret) so I was asked to do another instead and did a bad start on that  Got going eventually and finished it (17 come Sunday) which broke the curse - though as I was on 3rd to start with I set a trend - everyone else was forgetting their songs as well (well - very much a bunch of geezers around my age or older). Next round I did the song I droed on in the first round, and next 2 were OK too (Streets of London, and finally Montague John - song written by Ray Bradfield, local guitar hero, about Jack the Ripper) :)

Don't know which is worse - playing in front of an audience of strangers many of whom don't play and won't be critical of your technique - or at clubs lie I do where I know most people, but also know that some are very goodguitarists indeed :?

Jim says as soon as Mrs West is up to it. May maybe? Thinking 'bout it?

I was thinking early May, Mrs. West is looking a bit better today. Doc says she could travel in 3-4 weeks. I guess I could get an air mattress, and soften the pothole blows while she rides in the flatbed trailer. 7 hours though, might be kinds brutal for even her....guess I could stay on the Interstates :?:
