Looks like I'll have to shoot on a May 24th expedition.
Maybe the word will have spread by then and there will be a mass LTG pilgramage!

It's probably pretty dumb for me to even consider this given my upcoming work schedule, but... Scratch, what are some of the nearest airports to your locale?

Hey Fungus...
Graham is right. San Antonio is about an hour's drive and Austin maybe 1:15 away. I-35 and City of New Braunfels less than 20 miles away (from Ninfa's)...

Memorial Day LTG get-together in Texas anyone?

Oh man... this would be great. It would be great to get back to Austin to see some friends there also.... but since I'm just transitioning into a new job at my company, I'll have to see how things unfold the next 2- 3 weeks. I love the thought of coming down there, but it will take some luck and creativity to make it happen.

That should seal it eh Jer?

Last drunk one in 1978 in Texas - doesn't seem to be a good 'travelling beer' - must be an acquired Texan taste - like calf fries  If I get to Arlington in '09 Ken I'll be honored to buy you and Jim one :!:

No -I'm in South Africa then :( I'm hoping if it is on effectively the same weekend in '09 it will fall just after my wife's birthday (Oct 15) and she'll let me off for a long weekend in Texas :) She won't come herself you see. trouble is, by '09 the LTG Arligton do will be as popular as the Glastonbury Festival in the UK, with 2,000 members turning up and thousands more paying to come and listen to the stars (you, Ken an all) so there won't be hotel room or performing space for me :(

I tried to email it to you Graham, but it was too large (178M rejected). I pulled up the site to convert to avi as suggested, but haven't been able to free up the time... still trying...

Hey Scratch,

Sounds like it went really well. Good job!

Scratch...congratulations! You did it, man.

Love the setlist. How did "Tell Me Why" go? That's one of my alltime faves. Did you drop down to double-dropped C for that, like Neil does?

Also, the SD hat is very cool. That's my town!

Keep up the good work and best of luck with the next gig.

Thanks, dave...

Used the 12er dropped to 'D' for Tell me Why. Like you, that is one of my very favorite Neil Y. songs...

Picked up the hat three years ago when I attended a conference in your fair city. Pam and I spent the evenings walking the marina and finding new places to eat. We watched the Navy Seals train in the bay... Those guys are unreal.

We also saw the Padres play the Dodgers at Petco field one evening. What a beautiful place to live! :D :D Really expensive too as I recall!

Yes, San Diego is a little expensive...but not as bad as L.A. or NoCal. The wife and I are natives here (with three little ones) and we could never decide where else we would want to live. Guess we're just spoiled. Never been to Austin, but I've heard it's very cool; lots of music stuff happening there.

Playing Neil songs acoustically is great. I had a duo for awhile and we played "Tell Me Why," with two-part harmony of course; "Silver & Gold," "Harvest Moon," "Oh Lonesome Me, "Words," and one or two others I can't recall right now. Never did "Cinnamon Girl" live, but I learned it (double-dropped-D tuning) and it's very cool acoustically.

Padres' opening night tonight vs. the Astros. Go Pads!

SD is, indeed, a great place! Weather, music, ocean, practically a whole new downtown, ... very nice place. The only problem in San Diego is the traffic. With all their canyons, arroyos, riverbeds, barrancas, and gullies, there just aren't many places to build roads. And not all the mesas are bridged yet. Rush hour is getting worse every year.

It might be necessary to have a California LTG warm-up to Arlington. The Easternators and the Floridianizers are trying to pull it off. Maybe we should, too.

"The only problem in San Diego is the traffic. "

True that! It can really suck at rush hour.

Hey...if you all want to join me in S.D. at the Gaslamp at some funky bar, I'll be there. I was there last night while the Pads were playing the 'Stros at Petco Park.

The Gaslamp is just very cool...anybody in???
