We had lots of fun last night. Good ole South Texas heat, humidity and music. Jim and Russ were the highlights; man dem dudes can play... Russ & Ms. Russ left Ninfa's around 8:30 to head back to Austin where their son was playing a gig. Jim & Mrs. West came back to the house for a while, then left for Fredrickburg around midnight. Lots of fun and we think we talked Russ into coming to Arlington in October. 145 sleeps... Can't wait...

Any video, audio?

Mrs. West took some stills and video/audio.

Well, it's back to reality now after a 5 day stretch in paradise. For some strange reason I can't seem to logon to my Photobucket account now, otherwise I'd be takin' up all Don's space here with pictures.

Mrs. West and I spent the entire past 5 days finding every single out of the way farm to market road in the Texas Hill Country. We've been from Llano to Kerrville to Lampasas to Canyon Lake to Luckenbach to Johnson City. Trying desperately to find the most rural roads we could possibly find to get there. WHAT A BLAST!

Kenny and Pam were there modest gracious selves as the fed and entertained us on Saturday night. My gosh what a piece of heaven in which they live. Mrs. West actually fed the deer in Ken's driveway as he and I cooled off with some cold brew. Then off to Ninfa's. Tremendous night there. Russ showed up, then stole the show. You could kind of tell he'd done that before. Great guy....Russ. We had a blast. Ken just continued to amaze me with his singing, harmonica and guitar playing skills. The man is way too modest. And Russ.....I think he actually plays for money, and it's evident. I had no business in the room with these guys.

The H4 was a total flop as I thought I was recording, but wasn't.....so forget audio unless I can figure out how to download, unload, off load, or whatever you do with this video camera. I did get some video with sound of Kenny and Russ.

Kenny, today on the way home, I took highway 19 from Llano, all the way through Georgetown, past I 35 and continued East down farm to market roads all the way to Highway 79 at Rockdale. Incredible scenery. Yesterday, we drove down to Kerrville, then over to a place called Sisterdale, then backroads all the way to Luckenback!!! I don't think I'll ever travel another interstate.

Oh and it was a good thing we didn't stay later Ken, since I'd have probably had a couple of drinks. We had just gotten on 281, darker than dark it was. There I was, unfamiliar with the road. Anyway, I'm northbound behind this trucker for what seemed like miles. Finally, we get to a passing lane, I start around him, and he runs out of lane. As he starts over, I've got no choice but to hammer it or shut her down. I hammered it just in time to see a car coming in the distance. There I am doing about 75 mph in a no passing, and the oncoming was one of out fine State Troopers. Man they put me through the ringer, had me stand there for about 20 minutes while the checked me and everything else out. Anyway, a warning on the speeding, but I hit the jackpot on the passing in a no passing zone. Hey, they're just doing their job....and a fine job they do.

Had a great time Ken. I'll post shots ASAP and some video if I can figure out how.

I started to call you yesterday evening from Luckenbach and see if the three of you wanted to drive over and listen to some acoustic music under the trees. We didn't stay long though.....a couple of Coronas and we were off. They were having their 10th 150th birthday bash.

If I had realized I was so close to the famed YO Ranch, I'd have driven over there too.

We sure had a great time meeting you guys on Saturday; we were really happy that we drove down. Wonderful music in a cool little venue with Corona and enchiladas - how great was that? OK, maybe "cool" isn't the right adjective...

Dave, thank you again for sharing your stage and for giving us all an excuse to get together and have some fun. Loved hearing your tunes and especially the original.
While I know everyone enjoyed all the music, your granddaughter was the best performer (and writer!) with the "sad puppy song!"

Jim, thanks for coming in with the lovely and talented Kerry, (sp?) and please thank her again for letting me pound away on that sweet little mahogany dread. Sorry for your run-in with the long arm of the law; really glad that it wasn't more serious!

Linda loved meeting you all, too, and thinks that we probably should make that commute to Arlington in October, so I guess I'd better call the Sheraton...

Thanks again for a great time and the welcoming attitudes!

Glad you had some great R&R, West.

When I played at my daughter's wedding last summer, I had my digital recorder all set up, and a friend controlling it.
Afterward he came up to me and said that he didn't think there was any signal going into the recorder. Turns out I had forgotten to connect a cable between the recorder and the amp.

This audio engineering stuff can be tough. Turning on and plugging in can be major hurdles to overcome.

Thing was Graham, I know the record button was lit up.....I don't know what happened. I had tried it out a few times without a problem in the B & B we stayed at, and felt like I had it down. I think I even looked at the screen to make sure it said "record", but nothing. Y'all will have to take my word for it....Ken was great!

Instructions?
