Dunno how I feel about those gold tuners tho, with the GOTOH all displayed and stuff on the back there. Just feels odd to not have GROVER or something at least. Oh, and I would have liked to have seen the serial number stamped on the back of the headstock too.

Beautiful!

Note the new oval label, that looks more like the old oval label.

That does look great! Pretty much a thinline version of the X550 Chris Fleming built for Dave Gonzalez some years ago.

Tuners look a little out of place for my taste, but that's nitpicking I guess.

That looks incredible. Not loving the tuners, either, but so much else is so right. They even did the toggle switch bezel.

Amazing. I guess if you walked into a guitar store 60 years ago, that's pretty much what a new Guild would look like.

For those interested check with streetsounds as I was told by them that they received 4 of them. I got one and another LTG'er got one, so there may be 1 or 2 left.

That has to be a good thing for those hoping for production electrics. Seems they have had a pretty good response to the GSRs.

Just curious - has anyone been able to tell if the knobs are vintage correct (go to 9)? That's one less, innit?

They appear similar to those from 1959-1963 as listed in Hans' book.

Those pictures in the e-bay auction look stunning! What a beatiful guitar, amazing AAAAA maple on the back as it looks like, and look at the details, the multi-ply pickguard and TRC for instance and the knobs. And a Guildby... And now we also know for sure that the run is 25 guitars and not 20 as Thomann had stated. And obviously it was good to make more than 20, as all seem to sell within a day or two after they hit the stores. Good for Guild! Congratulations to all who already bought one! A truly special guitar to own! I am surprised the 18 GSR Starfire VI did not sell that fast, the price was about the same on both models. There are still some GSR Starfire VI available.

SFIV, that's an interesting point about the Starfire sales vs. the T500. I'm thinking the T500 is selling quicker because it is a guitar "style" from Guild that hasn't been seen for quite a while, whereas the SF had several runs over many years.

Whatever the reason, I agree it bodes well for Guild, and will hopefully encourage them to make more electrics.

Rocky is pretty "in" with the New Hartford guys, at least from what I hear. I don't know if he really is the biggest Guild dealer, but it's possible.

If I were a betting man, I'd guess that Sam Ash, likely, will rapidly eclipse him. But that's not fair since Sam has a chain of stores.

+ the starfire doesn't have the original shape and pickups.

this brings me to the point, how about a sf6 with the original shape, guildsby and 3 duncan franz???

Good point about the shape and pickups of the GSR Starfire VI. I agree.
But a SF 6 with 3 Duncan Franz P90? That would be a totally new model...Similar to the models the Nasville custom shop made around 2001. They were Starfire 4's with triple P90 pickups and some with and others without Guildsby. I have never seen any pictures of them, except the one later made custom made "Gibson style" guitar with 3 Pups that was made a few years ago (but after the Nasville shop closed) as custom product with original style Starfire IV body for that Fender executive who worked at Gibson before.

Except the one Gibson style guitar with 3 Pups that was made a few years ago as custom shop product with original style Starfire IV body for that Fender executive who worked at Gibson before, and which Hans did not consider a true Guild model due to the fact that it was a custom made single piece.

yep, that's the one I'm referring to, ralf.
in fact is was a limited run of 5 or 6 or so and 1 or 2 had the guildsby if I remember correctly.
now only with a orange maple body, bigsby and golden hardware for me please. :D

why not doing new models in addition to some of the classics?
for my playing style I prefer a semihollow body to a hollow one, but would love to have a franz tone too.
and maybe I'm not the only one?

@Michael: The red one I posted above was not belonging to that Nashville custom shop run. It was made much later as a single piece only with Gibson appointments.
Actually I found pictures of the original custom shop run, here are a few (more under the Beyer link):

This one if for sale at Beyer's Music in Koeln for €3000 (or best offer) currently:

matsickma has exactly such one.

cool, learned something new again, thanks ralf.
yep this is one of them. unfortunately they didn't add the g-shield for the custom models.
I guess not enough bling for the price. well definately for me. :D
edit: plus I miss the rounded fretboard and block inlays.
