Not having the Bible in front of me, when did the split blocks first begin? On the Starfire 6 in the sixties or earlier than that?

Some 1953 X-550 already seem to have the smaller sized triangles included.
According to page 24 of the Bible that smaller inlay was in the shape of the "G-shield"!
Here's a '54 picture I found on Google:

And according page 25 around 1965 the large 3-piece design started with the big triangle wedged in.

Right! Thanks for refreshing my memory. So, the T-500 inlays would be "period correct", just not for '53. That might be something to bring up at LMG lll.

Steve: What do you mean "just not for '53" ? What does this have to do with LMGIII?

The triangle is smaller on the earlier split blocks, isn't it? If the NH factory reverted to that style on some of the GSR's, maybe it would stand further out from those Chinese Epiphones that have to same type of inlay.
Just thinking about the Aristocrat reissue I'd like to see...

Oh, you are thinking ahead a bit, I see...But sorry to say, I think the Aristocrat never had triangles.

Nope, but if you are putting out a MSRP 5K guitar, you can splurge a little on fretboard markers. ;-D

Well, hopefully it's not such high MSRP, and it would not be period correct if you include triangles in an Aristocrat...But anyway, the topic here is GSR T-500, so not rumours.

Relax Ralf! It's just veerage, that's all. Besides, an Aristocrat reissue isn't even a rumor, it's a pipe dream. Still, I can dream, right? :-D

So, since the GSR T-500 is a reissue (sort of) of the pre-DE 500 (sort of), everything is fine with the inlays and it's just me running off at the mouth a little bit.
