Ouch! That new 212XL Standard is two grand. I guess it reflects the price increase, though, which is gonna put the 412/512 street price in the neighborhood of $3K.

It's showing sold at 1700.

Same here. Something with an Ebony board would be nice, but probably not fitting the price point.

His order was on the books before Sandy's guitar hit Nashville?

That's a valid observation, Chaz. As a point of reference, my poor D50 has been in Nashville since March 8th. :(

Wish I could say the same; Nashville's a fun place!

F-50 Standard...kinda fugly. Don't like the dark neck and light body. They should go with the same stain on the mahogany.

What it really needs is a maple neck, imho.

There are plenty of older Guilds with the 'hog neck on a maple body. The early G37's, come to mind.

Consider the quality of instrument involved, the fact that Honduras mahogany is soon to be on CITES, and, lastly, how far $2k doesn't go these days...I'm glad I bought my two ('73 and '74) when they could still be gotten for $375 and $350... 8)

OTOH, I'm thinking $2k for a brand-new F-212XL w/ hsc is a excellent lifetime investment if you're going to play 12-string for the rest of your life, I will.

And just for comparison, a used Taylor 355 goes for $1200-1500 and a 555 $1500-2K (the only two guitars that come close to the F-212XL in sheer magnificence, if you can find one, that is...Taylor inexplicably discontinued all their 17" non-cutaway/non-electrified jumbos, so new will be limited to NOS)...in other words, $2K for a new F-212XL is not such a bad buy!

Where's the F-50's Chevron and block-inlays...

Looks...naked! :?

:) :)

Actually, I don't think anyone's order was placed before mine. That said, it may have gotten behind others inside Fender when they finally started processing them recently.

No worries. Can't wait for mine now! :D
