I just looked at the specs for the F30 and F30R. Both come with a 1&3/4" nut....very cool and thank you Guild for listening.

Awesome news Chaz! Pictures please!
Can I get the guitar first?

:D :D

You bet, Sandy. Tomorrow at the earliest. THe good news is that I think one of our cohorts, Bill A., may meet me at the shop and see it with me for the first time... Independent corroboration. Proof. I know we have skeptics out there!!! :D

It happened, shortly after 6:00 PM this evening...

Now, I post this not to expose Charlie to rude remarks about possible tonsorial challenges, but to show all the wide grin he is displaying upon playing the first chord on his new guitar...

Charlie with his new squeeze, and to the right Carl Kamp, President of Union Music

I will not speak to the guitar itself, as fine as it may be, but leave that to Chaz. I will address the D40 in another thread...

OK, after writing two paragraphs, the Board looses my thread :(

OK, in a nutshell, tried out the F30 that arrived with Charlie's 12'er. Spectacular bookmatched mahogany back. Spectacular! Not a word usually found describing a 'hog guitar. The D40 was the same (though I can say no more here...) I wonder if this is one of the special grades they showed us at LMG, though that would be counter to the price point.

I do question whether the nut width is 1 3/4" as does Carl. Ridge, can you find another spec, other than the eBay prose, that says this is supposed to be 1 3/4"?

Wicked cool axe Chaz! Just got my first Guild 12 recently. Brought tears and I sat stone faced through Old Yeller's demise. Is it me or is Guild slow in getting all these new beauties posted on their website?

Thanks for joining me at Union this afternoon and taking the pix documenting my NGD, Bill.

Also, thanks for the good wishes, everyone. For the record, my F-212XL was finished on 23-Sep (Julian day 266). Yes, that's last week. :)

I just put the guitar down a few minutes ago. Lovin' it so far. Peeled the cellophane off the pickguard and will take some pictures tomorrow.

The guitar smells just like the New Hartford facility itself, which brings back fond memories of our factory visit there in April for LMG2010. This is the third brand-new guitar I've bought in my life, and this one is particularly special to me since I met the folks who are responsible for it at that event. I can't say that about the folks in Tacoma who built my F-512 in 2006 or the guys in Owari Asahi who built my Ibanez Artwood in 1980.

Interestingly, all three of those guitars are 12-strings!

Ridge, I do not think that dealer is correct. You will note that he lists every GAD model as also having a 1 3/4" nut, which is not the case. Surely not intentional on their part, but fueling disappointment for those of us lookiing for a more fingerstyle-friendly guitar.

To be fair, I will make the effort to go back to Union, tape measure in hand...for I do want to try and capture the beautiful mahogany back of the the F30 and D40 on an image to put up here.

The F30 is not for me. Perfectly executed production, and I am sure a real sleeper-bargain for the right person, but feels like a toy to me...the body is just too small...however it plays very nicely, sounds good (although I suspect some of the metallic "zing" is from the new Daddario strings not played in...but it doesn't have the "clank" I normally associate with same). I can see why Frono's better half likes this guitar...would you please just hurry up and buy this for her  ...can't comment on the scale length, but I did find the neck easy to play, easier than the new Taylor Mini GS...

This is now two retailers who have posted a possible error in nut width...gotta check what Elderly and Mandolin Bros say...

As a sidebar, while my GAD30PCE spoke to me in the store and I had to buy her, there are times when I find something lacking...and I cannot put my finger on it other than to think it just may be the small body. I have tried a Taylor 614ce in an antique tobacco sunburst that was to die for, but it certainly wasn't $2000 more of a guitar...tried a Taylor "Grand Symphony" which I think is an in between Orchestra and Dreadnaught size, GS-8 ??...uuugh!...sounded like someone turned off the midrange fader...I would love to find a Guild F47R to compare, but until then I guess I am just a dreadnaught guy

Working on it. You would have thought she would have used my recent B-50 as an excuse to escalate but I think at some level she is just intimidated by a brand new guitar from a factory that she toured.

Of course, she was amused by the grin on Chazmo's face so maybe her resistance is fading.
