I was messing around at the guitar store the other week and this followed me home:

The critter in question being a 1979 D25. From the looks of it, its been played hard, but well maintained (bone nut and saddle, LR Baggs pickup, etc) -- and it still sounds amazing. GAS can get us all apparently. I still need to have it gone over and get the setup tweaked, but right now I don't want to put it down.

It’s been around five years since I last bought a guitar, but that probably wouldn’t be the case if I were living in the big city & able to get good guitars in-hand. Might as well embrace GAS for it’s pure pleasures - Congrats & Enjoy!

Yea, I love it when that happens, lol. A burst DS240 almost followed me home from Guitar Center with that red strat the other day, but they didn't want to include any way to protect it, like gig bag or case, so it stayed behind. I can see why that came home with you, I've got a 1980 burst D25 just like it and it is superb. In fact, now I might just have to go fondle it(bah dum,🥁 rimshot!), thanks for the inspiration. lol

I was worried after the refret of mine it would sound different. The LR Baggs worked great. Even so, the D25 has kust a natural great sound. Good Ole USA workmanship, when men were XY & women were XX..
Nice rescue. If you close your eyes when you play, you wouldnt notice or care it wasn't new!

Its played in to the point where you can really hear the wood -- even better that its not new.

I know the feeling. Its like trying to find a bottle of Blantons on the shelf at normal retail. The more you look, the better chance you have. For me it’s usually like what the good Dr. said…

I been in the right place
But it must have been the wrong time

The guitar looks super though. I love the later 70’s Westerly bursts, especially that darker tobacco burst. Nice score!
