Darryl,

That's the song I was talking about. The one about reincarnation. I can't remember the name. Somebody help!

Dredster,

You're right about Prine missing the list. Should have been there I suppose, but you know, all kidding aside, most of the guys were some of the best songwriters of all time. Some of their music is timeless.

Mark,

 Tiny rocked, don't you think? Even if he had a small one.

Nowadays, Miss Vicky runs an antiques-type store in South Jersey - want me to ask her next time I'm in the neighborhood?

 Well Coaster, with all of those empties around your lawn chair, I can see how you'd be wired! In fact, you're even beginning to get a pinkish color to you. :p

No, the kindest thing to do is just let Miss Vickie be. She has demons enough to deal with.

It's best no further mention is made of Tiny Teem, Good Lord Bless His poor departed soul. Soon !!!

I saw Willie twice this summer. He was opening for John Fogerty. Fogerty blew him away both times.

And I am not a rocker...John Denverite, James Taylor, Simon&Garfunkle, Jim Croce, etc.

But Willie does have a great and wonderful catalogue of songs that define the era that many of us grew up in...whether he sang them or someone else covered them, they are part of our collective conscious from that time. And even today it is an experience to here him sing them live.

Maybe it was a self-fulfilling prophecy this time - he was covering Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee" this tour:

"Busted flat in Baton Rouge..."

Though it was really closer to Lafayette.

And as one Louisianian told me, "Well, the state trooper probably wanted his autograph, and figured the only to get it was to pull him over so he could write him up."

West mentions
Willie songs.

I was going to list some ( like for example, "Crawling Kingsnake"), but since we now have at least one sister here, I resisted the temptation !!

All in the best possible taste ! ( Did you Americans ever get The Kenny Everett Show ?)

Also in the singer-songwriter vein besides Prine, Dylan, Cohen: Merle Haggard, Tom Waits, Dan Hicks, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Gordon Lightverse, Junior Brown, Yoni Mitchell, Tim Buckley, Hank Williams, Dwight Yokum, Marty Stuart, John Stewart.

With rock, blues, and jazz, there are too many to mention. But here are all of my favorites in rap:

Ethnic humor is just plain wrong. I abhor it.
