Dread's thread re his bro in law and the reveal that bro in law's favorite food is a can of green beans (at least he's not hard to please) made me wonder what are some favorite foods of our members here.

What's your favorite food?

My preference is seafood, preferably a seafood platter. Shrimp, scallops, and fish at least. Even more is even better. Nothing fried, though. Grilled, sauteed, or steamed. Plenty of butter and lemon wedges to squeeze over. Don't even need cocktail sauce.

Pho Tai. Vietnamese beef and noodle soup.

Really, too many choices for favorite.

A special treat, in season only - fried clams, scallops, fries, rings. Lots of tartar sauce.

A close race between Thai and Indian, depends on the day. Right now I'm cooking up a Mississippi Pot Roast in the Instant Pot (great for Indian, too), and the house smells wonderful!

This is impossible for me--the only thing I can say almost anything BUT seafood--bad childhood memories of "tuna hot dogs" and forced to eat things
I didn't like. To me, a lot of seafood is an excuse to eat butter, which I also don't like. Thai, Indonesian, Chinese, Greek, Moroccan, Lebanese, Iranian, Mexican, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Italian, BBQ (not Kansas City Style--yech!), soul food, etc. I do all the cooking now as my wife is on home hospice, and I vary between the things she used to enjoy. Hold a knife to my throat, I guess Mediterranean--so that it will include Middle Eastern and Greek...although I then have to douse everything with Tabasco or crushed red pepper--it's got to be hot...

spoox, so sorry that your wife is on home Hospice care, but those folks are usually awesome. My daughter is a Hospice nurse and I am a Hospice volunteer. She worked with a music therapist yesterday.

Hopefully you have been able to serenade your wife with some old favorites.

They are indeed...several have become good friends and get my sense of humor. I often leave on Demented Radio which plays our band's music usually 4 times a day. Otherwise I'll have Gene Clark or Elvis Costello playing for her...

BBQ, not just any BBQ because in west Texas for every good BBQ joint you find theres like 2 or 3 that are just ok.

@spoox - Try to take care of yourself, as you take good care of your lady . . . I have great sympathy for your situation, particularly after losing a good friend who was in hospice care at home last summer.

There are way too many foods that I like to pick a single favorite, but chicken braised in red wine (coq au vin) would be a top contender on my list.

edit: That chicken dish would be a winter-time favorite of mine. Summertime? That's a whole 'nother kettle o' fish.

Whipped Cream!!! And a bunch of other stuff but, LORDY I love some whipped cream!! 🐄🐄🐄

I make cream puffs now and then and the best ones ever were filled with whipped cream. Last time I used pudding. My guys liked them but I thought they fell a bit short. The next batch will likely have whipped cream filling.

How did the pot roast turn out? I have never been able to make a good pot roast. What's your secret? And your recipe, if you don't mind sharing.

We do our pot roast in the oven in a big Dutch oven with carrots, onions, spuds, and a can of cream of mushroom soup. 3-4 hours at 250 degrees F, fork tender and also makes great gravy.

My pleasure Cynthia!

I've used this recipe a few times, and it always comes out perfect. It's a bit too salty as written, so I use water instead of beef stock, and sweet butter. You can also halve the gravy and dressing mix if it's still a bit salty for your taste.

Linky here.
