I love Tina, she's a great performer. I used to like Ike too, until it became known that he was slapping Tina around.

They used to have concerts as part of Portland Auto Show, but I don't count those, tho did see some great acts: Roger Miller, Bill Cosby early in career, The Supremes... But first specific concert was The Beatles in August 65 ("Help" tour). Paid $6 for best seats for 8 o'clock show. They didn't sell out the afternoon one, fyi. Said they would be back at press conference. LIARS!
Stones were better next year, and only $4.50 (sent check in as soon as heard coming). Asked for (and got) 3rd row center. Wanted to see Charlie and closer would have cut him off....

Loved those guys! That album was one of my first albums. ( Especially as it drove my Dad crazy! ) 'Cisco Kid', Is Still a friend of mine....and 'World is a Ghetto', still rings it's truths.
Cool concert! 8)

My wife and I got to meet the great man backstage and he posed for photos and signed my programme.

An incredible moment.

As Groove Tubes founder Aspen Pittman said about these early Showmans, "You either understand or you don't. That's all."

Nowhere near the real deal, but the Showman is one of my favorite amp sims on my Pod X3. :)

Hi All..

First for me was John Denver in 1975 in Portland Oregon, at The Memorial Coliseum. My very first girlfriend's mom snapped up two tickets for us...great girlfriend, great mom too!!! The show sold out 12,000+ seats in 40 minutes. We had no idea how lucky we were. It was a great show, with great sound...surprisingly good sound, you could hear the whole band just great. Got to walk right down to within 15 feet of the stage and look at John's infamous F-50R Artist Award 6 sting, and his first F-612 12 string...awesome...just awesome...the guitars and the girlfriend...and the show!

Best Regards
duff
