Sounds like you got the blues hangin' roun' yo crib, Mojo!

Joe

I got up off my pallet
An I laid down across my bed
When I went to eat my breakfast
the blues was all in my bread ...

But the blues is definitely my passion, I have been focusing primarily on soloing, playing blues progressions and so forth. Next week I am going to make an effort to learn some new non-blues songs though, i realized I have ben neglecting that part of my playing and I don;t have a lot of the songs I once had mastered anymore.

With the rain on, rain off weather last weekend I spent some time learning a few zeppelin tracks while procrastinating on doing some work in the garage:

Tangerine is pretty simple and the intro sounds good strummed behind the sound hole for a little tighter metallic tone.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is really fun! Seems to be one of those songs that is loud no matter how soft you try to play!!!

I like playing Hey Hey, it is an easy song and you can really make it bluesy with a few tweaks here and there.

BTW way Coastie; Jewelry Andyous doesn't sing the Chimney Sweep Song, Richard the Beard does. She was a pretty good Victorian though:

Whatamistakeatomakea !!
's ok. I'm always on about that tune if you haven't seen any of my previous refs to it. Just try changin' it up to swing time from waltz after a couple of verses. Voila, u've got jazz! Here's another associated with our beloved Ms. Undrews which was given "the treatment" by a certain Mr Coltrane with much similar effect, and which also translates quite nicely to guitar:

And BTW here's a quick connect to that chim chiminey thing in case it's handy:

I actually play it in Emin so's to be able to use barres at the 7th fret. On the F65 it allows for that delicate waltz feeling for the first couple of verses and facilitates the time change. I'm sure your F20 would love it. As well as the granddaughter.
Interestingly, can't seem to find a chart for "My Favorite Things". (I have it in a book) Suspect perhaps the copyright police have stifled any unauthorized reproductions of that one, probably still a pretty good income generator to someone.
I'm a sucker for good movie music. :D

Guess I should have described his effort as a "corker" rather than "quite nice" then?
Now there's a word you don't hear often these days !! I imagine, totally alien to Americans.
To most Americans an "alien concept" is an alien concept.

"The Reason" Tim Stafford

"The Stars Look Down" Duke Levine...trying to get it to sound full enough just with acoustic

"...Martin Performing Artist GPCPA1 full demo" by Simon Bradley...I think...of Guitarist Magazine

"Dark Island" duet by Bryan Sutton is on the agenda, but that may be a bigger mouthful than I can handle...sounded easy enough at first...maybe do it with Scott M at the next LMG...maybe

I have a setlist of around 90 songs so when I gig I can go at least four hrs without repeating myself.

My songs are all covers and most of you would know every word to every song. The latest song I added to the list is Simon & Garfunkel's, "A Heart in New York".

Mr. Ashton said that I have to respond... So being the good Asian boy, here goes:

Jitterbug Waltz (Fats Waller) - working on it as a duet with our buddy Peter
Ebon Coast (Andy McKee)
Silent Night (arr. Pete Huttlinger)
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (arr. Pete H.)

Last, but not least,
Dark Island (arr Bryan Sutton) - working on a duet with Mr. Ashton for next year's LMG jam.

I almost exclusively write and play originals on guitar. At the same time, my patient and good natured girlfriend will testify that I love to twist tunes when I'm singin' and scattin' for fun.
Ever wonder what the "X-Files" theme would sound like if it had some swing?
Zabba-ba-buh-ba-da-bah! Dooby-dop-ba-ba-da-dah!
Can you dig it?
  Sounds like we share a little musical philosphy. Bet we'd hit it right off!

I also enjoy torturing her all summer long with impromptu Christmas carols. Of course, no other woman would put up with my shenanigans, but who needs more than one?
I am also blessed with a music-tolerant girlfriend. Ain't it great?! :D

Hi gang,

This thread deserves a good bump. Nothing here is overly complicate, but just for fun. And isn’t that the reason so many of us started playing in the first place? :) Well here a short list for the weekend.

Cheeseburger in Paradise by Jimmy Buffett…a fun little song that folks just seem to sing along to.

From the Beginning by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer…combination of finger pick and strumming.

City of New Orleans by Arlo Guthrie…finger picked.

After The Goldrush by Neil Young…including Hohner Echo harmonica, the Echo harp sounds kind of cool in this song IMHO.

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young…I just started on today and is a work in progress…a little rough around the edges…but getting there.

One of these fine days I’ll do a little recording and share.

Dane :D

Brad Paisley- She's Everything, leanred the arpeggio intro and it sounds great on the D25

and sadly enough I have been playing Let Her Cry by Hootie and the Blowfish mainly because it has a Cadd9 chord and that is a new one for me so I have been practicing that song.
