Just wondering what ya-all play on the acoustic for fun.

Myself, I have been on a Lynyrd Skynyrd kick;

Ballad of Curtis Lowe

All I can do is write about it

Recently, I learned "Plush" (the acoustic version) by STP, and challenged myself with a version of "Starship Trooper" by Yes.

A leather paddle swatted on the top works well. (Mute the strings.) I have a spare but the shipping is probably more than the paddle. I'm sure you could find one down there at a reasonable price. Maybe even from a damaged goods sale. 8)

Great Al, thank you.

I'm currently searching for a multi-lingual cathedral choir to do the vocal bit.

Y'know, you could opt for something a little less challenging. That 2001 piece for instance. What is it, "Thus spoke the Zorro Thruster" , or something like that? Magnificent kettledrums. In that case you'd want 2 felt paddles across the back of the guitar.
Myself, I'm sticking with "Chim Chim Cheree". Really. No one believes me until they hear it but it actually jazzes up quite nicely. 8)

I've been playing a couple of Nic Jones songs, "Farewell to the Gold", and "Little pot stove", and also Steve Earles "Guitar Town", Ray Lamontagne's "New York is Killing me", and twinkle twinkle little star on the harmonica. (I'm learning OK  )

Cheers, Ian

Is that the same as "The Space Oddity" ??

Space oddity reminded me of another song I have been playing a lot lately!
ZIGGY STARDUST! God, I LOVE playing that song!
You should hear it on an S100. That's how I did the first time, it was a buddy at a garage jam.
Also dusted off a little Hendrix last weekend: "You Got Me Floatin". Surprisingly, LOTS of his stuff translates well to acoustic. "Wind Cries Mary" is another one. Also "Up from the Skies" and "Belly Button Window".

Whoopsee !!

A complete bust !

"Thus Spoke the Zorro Thruster" > "Also Sprach Zarathrusa"

Thus: Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" > "A Space Oddity"

Where's The Hatt ???? He'd have known !

Oops; sorry Al. I did figure that you " got it ".

I well remember this piece of childhood ( my first, that is ) silliness .............

Baked beans are good for your heart,

Baked beans make you fart !

The more you fart, the better you feel,

Baked beans for every meal !

And, speaking of a complete bust ...............

"Ladles and jellyspoons" ( drum-roll begins ), "by popular demand, the return of" ( drum-roll rises to a Krysh-and-doe ) ................

Been working on an old 70's tune (I think) called "3rd Rate Romance". Easy to play but kind of hard to sing with tricky lyric phrasing.

Vicious veer we have here.

I have been working on Bill Broonzy's Shuffle Rag. Pretty quick fingering so good practice.

Dave - we've been doing "3rd Rate Romance" for awhile now on two acoustics, what a blast. :D Great song as done by The Amazing Rythym Aces. Do you do that in "G"?

I've enjoyed doing Paul Simon's "At The Zoo" and "The Dangling Conversation" on my DV-52 a lot lately :D Pulled out "A Most Peculiar Man" a couple nights ago, that was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar.

"Crazy" and "Pancho and Lefty" by Willie.

"Dixie Chicken" a la Lowell George/Little Feat in "E"

"Nights In White Satin" in "Dm"

"Stormy Monday Blues" in "A"
