Crazy that it took Martin that long to actually build a (real) jumbo.
Yeah, it took them a while, but it wasn't been well-received. The only Grand J they've kept in the catalog is the GJ-16E. It's a completely de-blinged version of the GJ-40E, but it's also more affordable.

I've put my D50 Standard away for a week or so because I've recently been asked to play a couple of songs next Saturday for a fundraiser at a storied (for Indianapolis) venue. Despite my trepidations about my voice, I leapt at the chance. But then comes the guitar choice. I didn't want to play one of my Fishman Quackmasters™, and given the array of stage monitors a Baggs Lyric would surely feed back. I have a number of guitars with the K&K Pure Mini, and I'm sure the sound pros at the venue could manage the absence of a preamp, but why make life difficult for them? So out comes the D-TAR Load 'n' Lock, which I used with reasonable success at the venue last time (in September 2022). The Tacoma F40 is one of my least played guitars, and it deserves better than that.

Edited to add: which one is an F40? The answer, of course, is (but should not be): both.

Assuming we're talking gigs for an audience rather than playing at home alone?
Does church count as a gig if they don't pay me?
My F512 is on the platform with me every Sunday.
Christmas Eve all the rest of the band was out of town, so I was the only instrument.
I played some of the old Christmas songs, including Silent Night which was first performed in 1818 on a 6 string guitar, and is perfect for the 12 string guitar in G or A.
We finished with O Holy Night which I played in G.

Used my Gibson j-45 today at my recital.
Played "Stormy Monday" with a fellow student, accompanied by our teacher, and "Reminiscing" along with the teacher.
Do not expect a recording contract to be forthcoming, but on the other hand, didn't screw up badly enough to be pelted with rotten vegetables either.
So the afternoon was a success, and as our teacher reminded us, after we finished, we'll never have to play those two songs ever again.

A day without rotten vegetables is a good day.

My music homework guitar in the family room of late is my Walden G-2070.

It's my cheapest purchased guitar. Cedar over mahogany. I don't have a picture handy, but I found one close enough.

Well, the F-212XL is back out after putting away the D12-20. Here's a picture from a different location. As in, "that's yummy!" Or, perhaps, "winner, winner, chicken dinner?"

:)

At first glance with these old eyes I thought you had made a Guild chandelier ! Now wouldn’t THAT be something?
