Colorado case covers went out of business a few years back... (after buying Small Dog case covers, so they're gone, too). I checked eBay, and don't see examples of either on the used market.

I have an insulated/reflective "Climate Case" that I got from Tom... I use it when traveling by car, to keep my Guild cooler in the back of the car. Here's a somewhat recent link... don't know if they are still available.

As is often the case when I come up with a "brilliant" new idea for something, a search reveals that it already exists, and has been available for some time, which explains why I am not quite as rich as Bill Gates or Elon Musk.
But I digress.
For once, it seems that the guitar case cover I desire has never been commercially available hence my going to plan B.

Tom,
If nothing else, for under $6.00, the material likely has the tensile strength of Kleenex, so wouldn't stand the weight strain of a carrying handle, which is how I would intend to tote it.

So cut a hole for the handle to come through. I mean, how much rain are we talking here?? Or for what duration of time? For that price I'd be willing to cut a hole and maybe velcro the bottom. Just suggestions.

Tom,
Raincoats, umbrellas and panchos don't come with time-limited guarantees, ("guaranteed to keep user from getting wet for five minutes, after which time they're on their own") so neither should a guitar case cover. I want it to keep the case and contents dry, whether the rain is a two minute sprinkle, or a monsoon.

So really you are interested more in protecting the case than the guitar is would seem. Just how far are you walking in teh rain with this guitar case?

BTW, my previous post was more on the snarky side than trying to be helpful. I'll go away now I promise.

You know, I've owned my old D25M since I bought it new in '76, and I have never had a slip cover for it.

Tom, crank, dreadnut,
I'm a little confused by your comments.
You continue to ask me to justify wanting this item, which I don't feel the need to do.
And why should it offend you that I want an item with a specific set of features, and don't feel like compromising with items that don't fulfil what I perceive to be my needs, regardless of their price.
I appreciate all your suggestions, but with a bit of time and effort, I can make exactly what I want.
Without compromise. Or making do.
Please, let's move on.

Well, in fairness I am somewhat confused by what exactly you want and why some suggestions were rejected as not being what you want. There is also the possibility that you know something we don't and that would be revealed in response to questions. So if the responses were not what you were hoping for you may have brought some of that on yourself.

I will ask, since you want to use the current case and handle, whether your arm gets tired carrying the guitar for the times and distances involved? In my case the answer would be Yes and so my requirements would certainly be different since if I was carrying it long enough that precipitation was a factor then I would have a case with shoulder straps.

Iv’e seen Vintage high end Gibson’s (L-5’s) that came with a zippered case cover. Sure seems like a simple thing.
I’m pretty surprised you can’t find one.
It would seem having one made from waterproof fabric would be cheaper that the expensive padded covers people have referenced.
I want one, too. I think you should go into business...

They were just trying to help. No one thinks you should compromise.

What I've learned over the years at forums like this is that if I ask a question, I'll get a lot of stray comments that aren't any help. And lots of answers that completely contradict each other.

On the other hand, I'll also get answers to good questions I didn't think of asking. All in all I usually learn a lot. Too much information and too many suggestions and comments has never hurt.

It's the nature of the online forum beast. Best to just live with it and know that no one is out to confuse or annoy you.

Yup. My $20 soft Yamaha case with shoulder straps seems to keep water out just fine.

In fact, all my cases have. In over fifty years of playing, I've never gotten rain damage on a guitar. That's one of the things cases are for.

But RBS seems to have it solved. Good on him!

What about this one?? Technically it's a gig-bag cover but if it will fit a gig bag wouldn't it fit a case, too?? Under $20!

This Klos that Tom found might work. Contact the company to see if it will fit over your hard case. If it does I think you might be able to rig something up that would work.

It’s cheap enough that I would put on a second one from the back side to cover the large opening. Then I would cut a slit in each for the handle. I would reinforce the slits inside and out with a good outdoor duct tape so they don’t tear.
