Here in Cambridge, MA, mail was delivered seven days a week throughout December. Strange getting mail on Sunday, but kudos to USPS for doing everything they could to keep up.

Sent out some packages, Priority, on 12/30. Sent from Rodeo New Mexico to the Northeast. Two packages were delivered yesterday (CT and RI), one is at the destination sort place awaiting delivery(GAD), and the final one is still in transit from the sort facility in El Paso TX, (RI).

Stuff I ordered from Amazon took a long while to get here but not sure it's USPS fault. The shipments originated in China I think.

I just got some meds in 2 days, normal mail.

Just for reference, this container is called a "Gaylord", probably the manufacturer name. It's how we move most smallish parcels.

This is one reason why you can't just go pick up the parcel from the plant.

My first class mail package has been in Carson, CA since Dec 18, according to usps tracking.
Hopefully they just haven't been scanning and its local now.

No doubt about it, the USPS has been kneecapped. From the other carriers and the postmaster general. The USPS workers and the shipping public are caught in the middle.

Have been reading as time allows about the current situation
with USPS as well as its history, found an interesting article in
the May 2020 issue of National Geographic, of all places.

Something most people don't know, is priority mail is shipped using FedEx aircraft. Normally, it's a good deal for both organizations. FedEx is guaranteed a full aircraft and wee get speedy transport between our facilities. I have no data, but I suspect that FedEx had full planes and we had to ship by truck instead of aircraft. Really, this doesn't mean anything, but I will be interested in a couple of months when a post mortem is done on the systemic failure to maintain timely delivery. Now that the holiday inrush is over, I already see an uptick in USPS parcels from the hubs. Hopefully, we can get everything into the patrons' hands as quickly as possible.

Most likely in a processing facility. Once it gets to the delivery station, it goes out that day.

I’m in Maryland though.

Word is there was a COVID outbreak in one of the Maryland USPS facilities. They had to shut down and decontaminate the whole place.

One more data point . . . 19 days for a Christmas card to journey from northern Virginia to Massachusetts.

Which Google Maps suggests can be walked in 148 hours (just under 8 hours walking per day, for 19 days).
