Someone told me....'Cheer up, things could be worse.'

So I cheered up, and sure as hell........things got worse. May God bless us....everyone! Steffan

Seriously Dread. complete bummer. I am living on less than what is required too. Minimum amount from Disability pention, and now just do what's required to take care of the absolute necessities, everything else is gravy. (I'm delivering Pizza to make ends meet)
Years ago after losing my young family to an other guy, I was looking desperately for answers, This is probably as close to a direct answer to a prayer I have had, in words anyway, it just came, and here it is exactly as written, it's helped me and many others who have sometimes needed a reminder of what is really important. So take it for what its worth. Really, all the best to you...........Steffan

Beloved: In your hands lies the future of all that is to be for you. You are the custodians of your own destiny. Through choice and responsibility of your actions, this world can be changed into a spiritual paradise. The kingdom of God already exists in your own soul. The life that you live is a reflection of what will be for you in the days to come. It is within reach, for you to bring about your part in establishing the kingdom of God on this earth. Right now, this earth is your home. Take care of your home, and those that dwell in it. Make it a place for purity, and sanctify it from those forces that can distract you, and hold you back from your heritage. Be as one family. Help each other, and share your gifts, for the love of humanity, for your own sustenance, and for the Love of God.

Thanks, taab, and everyone else. I can't believe how many posts this generated in such a short period of time! There's a special bunch of folks here that gather 'round during times of need and lend their support. I've been on the receiving end a couple times this year :D

And now that I got that cd from Grammy, I have you all on my ipod as well! I just hit "shuffle" then in between The Allman Bros and Carlos Santana I might get Guildmark or Westie :D

My company closed it's doors (nation wide) in Sept 2002, and at that juncture, I needed only 1.3 more years to qualify for my pension. FWIW, I was truly devastated, and I allowed myself to suffer a minor stroke due to the worry, and tension. (I was almost 50 at that date, and had prior spinal surgery.)

Before long, I began to REALLY trust in the Lord's plans, and by mid December of that Year, I had a new job (within my union's pension plan), plus had offers for 2 other jobs, also within the union pension plan.

It was difficult to learn an entirely new (Hazmat) Commodity, but I worked hard, and actually retired with honors, after 2 years service. The CEO of the company took me out to lunch on my last work day......CEO's do not take truck drivers to lunch!

Anyhoo, My point is, put Your faith and trust in the Most High, because He can and will help You, if only given the opportunity!

Dread,
Numerous people have told you to trust in God. I know you already knew that!

I was laid off in 1992 (not the only time by the way) just 6 days before our first child was born and I was out of work for a solid year even with well over 400 resumes sent out. Every time things got really dark something strange happened to pull us out.

I learned a new level of trust in God back then and it is serving me well now in the most painful period in my 56 years on this rock.

Hang tough, and if you need anybody to talk too, you know where to find me! Anytime, day or night.

Well Dred,
All I can add is I know what a bummer it is.
I always just try to remember that most of our old worlds problems are bigger than myself, and all I can do is just hang on tight, and be swept along.
As a self-employed sales agent, I have many firms offering commission only, product lines. They fired their own sales staff due to poor sales in this business down turn. So pay days are scarce, and travel expenses are up.
But as always it feels better to be pro-active, find anything to keep busy and sharp. Setting still is such a downer.
Better to ride with Custer than sit at the Alamo, at least you are a moving target.
Good Luck!
Dale.

Thanks, Dale, but I'm not quite as desperate as the guys at Little Big Horn or The Alamo

Being a Lions fan would probably be a more appropriate analogy  Soon to be the only team to ever go 0 and 16!

Dread - Ouch, man, that hurts. Sorry to hear about it, but I agree with a lot of the others here - it's all in the hands of the good Lord and He has promised to meet all our needs. Faith and trust, brother, faith and trust. We'll keep you in our prayers, but remember, now's the time to get a little more Guild time in. All the best...dbs

These days are tough going for many of us 'regular folks.' A good theme song to rally the troops and maintain focus could be the old Carter family classic that encourages us all to "keep on the sunny side of life."
Whip out the old stringed instrument of choice and give it a run or two...or three. Food (song) for thought.

Onward,
Joe
