Am I the only one who feels like this thread should be split in two? The culmination of a great guitar resurrection thread is now buried in 70 posts of veer.

In general, if a veer is really a problem then the membership needs to demonstrate that by not veering.

In practice it is difficult to moderate a veered thread so that the results are helpful and coherent. So the Moderators (speaking for myself and pretending to represent a larger group :) ) would much rather do something else, such as answer rhetorical questions, argue among themselves, write reviews, deliver packages or just play their Guilds.

Which sounds to me like even the Micro-Managers have limits to their desire to micro-manage.

In this case, it's anything BUT micro-management! I'd say more laissez faire in style and doctrine, which is a VERY different thing and is good for us as a whole. I don't think of micro-management as a good thing and our moderators are REALLY good!! (y)

To be honest I have no idea what that level of moderation entails in practice. I agree with Tom that the moderators here do a great job so please forgive the suggestion that you/they “should” do something.
Generally I also think the membership here does a great job of recognizing a veer and self correcting so I’m surprised this has gone quite off the rails (or it seems so to me).
Maybe I’m putting too much value on it, but here I see a great first post by the OP, followed by commitment to regular updates that resulted in a fantastic “build” thread that was great fun to follow. I’m disappointed to see the finished project get buried.

marius,
It wasn't buried.
It finished.
And it is still all there for you to see and re-read as you wish. It hasn't generated any further comments because beyond all the compliments on how well it turned out, there isn't much else to be said, so the discussion morphed (mutated?/ evolved?) in other directions.

Topics among friends and family tend to veer in any case. You start off talking about Guild F20s and end up on YouTube watching dogs hanging ten on a surfboard, or Santa riding in on a canoe. That's friends and family for you. Love them while you can!

Thank you Marius...It's given me the idea for a very long stream of consciousness song...

There is a REAL live TV happening in Finland right now - none of that fake bull$41t "reality tv.

Nope - this one is named "pentulive" = puppylive = cameras streaming 9 labrador puppies until they are 8 weeks old - there are 7 black ones + 2 white/yellow ones.

Right now they are about to open their eyes any day now - trying to stand up - front paws working better than rear paws - tipping around - climbing on each other - nursing - sleeping.

oh - actually it ended on dec 5th - but broadcast is delayed - so it is still there

I include the link - but I warn you - them puppies are adorable - you want to have at least one as soon you see this . . . 🐾

So how is this for veer 😂

Nice veer, but when the site comes up I don't know what button to push to get to the puppies. For some reason it seems to be in a foreign language!

I was going to ask about it, too. It's beautiful. So you are the artist?

Did you paint your avatar as well?
I've done most all our art for our albums--originally in pen and ink or colored pencil. I traditionally do two dimensional things like Ancient Egyptian art, but about 10 years ago Mary Fleener the artist/cartoonist invited me to submit something to an art show. I fooled her (and myself) by doing a real painting
on wood that actually had perspective and depth. I've done several since then, but the last few years it became difficult to do that with Vicki's illness.
So, lately I've been altering photos using the Windows 3D Paint thing, which is what I used for the "Veer" piece. Since my Manx Glashtyn
wants to sit on my lap while I'm working, this is much easier to do right now than using real paint. I bought a digital pen set up on black Friday which I now need to set up which should allow me to work out ideas which I may one day turn into real paintings.
The first time I "colorized" one of my best pen and ink drawings for one of our covers, I realized it was taking me almost as long as it did to originally draw it. Had I hand colored it it would have taken me a fraction of the time--I'm much faster now, thankfully.
Yes, the avatar is an altered photo too.

marius,
Unless the Luthier steps on it, just to keep the project going, I'd suggest it is pretty clear that the resurrection of the F-20 was completed.
So yes the thread has veered off topic (for which I must take a large portion of blame), but so what?
In my experience, very few threads stay pure and true to the original topic, but sooner or later succumb to a sort of "broken telephone" syndrome, and go off in other directions.
Not worth splitting off the first part of this thread in my opinion, so put me down for a "no".

I wasn’t going to say anything, but with no disrespect or anything, this thread has gone off the rails. The next update actually about the F-20 will be soon bill be giving it to my wife in a day or two or at the latest actually on Christmas.

Does she currently play at all? I think I recall you said she has been wanting to learn? If that is the case, that F-20 will be one fine instrument to start off with! Please let us know how the presentation goes!
