Laying in a grappler doesn't even bother me as much as the bad job being done!!

Finishing a concrete pad bigger than a sidewalk and you don't have a bull float?? What the $&@%?? That's like a carpenter that doesn't have a hammer!! Doing a large pad w/ a hand float pretty much guarantees you'll have puddles when it rains!

This is the right way!

Growing up my best friend’s dad had a pit like that in his garage. Man that was great for working on my car. Until my friend decided that I should stay down there for a bit while he went to make himself a sandwich.

I used to clean the gutters on my two-story house.

I would ascend the ladder and clean the gutters with one hand, while holding onto the ladder with the other, stretching as far as I could "safely" reach, to minimize the number of times I had to descend the ladder to reposition it.

At some point, I got "smart" and fashioned a scraper out of an old garden implement, attaching it to a broomstick, to extend my reach.

Far too many years later, I got "smarter" and started paying someone else to take the risk. The last time I was up there, I could feel the ladder shaking, and realized it was my knees that were the cause.

But my gutter-cleaning method was the picture of safety first, compared to the time I fell off of a ladder from about 16 feet up, with a running chainsaw in my hands!

I hate heights, so cleaning gutters is one of my least favorite tasks. But I hate paying someone to do it even more. I finally got a stabilizer bar for my ladder which helped a lot.

Going up on the roof is another story...

I'll go up on the roof. I don't like it but I'll do it.

Going under the house? I'd rather go up on the roof.

Edit: I'm not afraid of heights or being on the roof, except the front roof has a steeper pitch than the back, and it's metal and can get slippery. If I lose my traction I'm likely coming off the roof. I prefer to go up barefoot, when the roof is not too hot.

Hey! I didn't know you could bypass that third prong with one of those flat plugs. I learned something today!

Now what are those flat plugs called? I need to do an Amazon search. ;)

Is there anything you don't know how to do? Do you need an apprentice? 😁

Got me beat. I was trimming a small tree. Ladder leaning on big branch, trimming same branch but well past the ladder. The branch broke and send me, and the chainsaw into a big rose bush. I learned the Texas Umbrella trees are not strong. I though I was going to have scars from all the rose bush damage on my torso. Ripped right through the shirt.

I have been cutting limbs w ladders leaning on them - maybe at about 6 meters = 18-19ft - the trick is to tie the ladder on the limb before starting to cut.

Next summer I have to do that again - but since I'm no longer as young as 5 years ago - I'll back off a foot or two - maybe even three if I feel like that.

That is absolutely insane! If you look closely, the A frame ladder is not sitting on a flat deck on the scaffolding....it's bottom rungs are straddling a single walk board!!:oops: That's not yard work, it's a friggin circus performance!!

There's a guy not afraid of ladders or heights.

What's the difference between being fearless and not being smart enough to know when to be afraid?
Agree. I once worked painting bridges on the Capitol Beltway on top of a scissor lift truck platform. You were most safe when always "on edge". Anytime you got too comfortable up there, that's when bad things can happen. And with that job, bad things meant guaranteed ICU ward, if not fatal.

I was wondering how he even got the ladder set up there! 🤔 He must be a real athlete, maybe should be in Cirque du Soleil! 🤪
