Other than my own novelty songs, the first thing I thought of was John Valby. That guy's songs always made me laugh. I think he may even still be alive for all I know. Although FAIR WARNING: his stuff is X-rated, he uses explicit lyrics, and he may even be offensive to some. Though this one is even pretty tame compared to many of his other songs and poems. And of course a familiar refrain:

Great! Reminds me of the one I wrote at the beginning of the pandemic: "My Corona."

This cracks me up. Everyone is way over the top. Especially the bass player on the first “keep me hangin on”. But might be one of the greatest rock performances of all time!!! So much fun to watch!!!

I'm not even going to post a link, but The Illiad by Ed Sanders is still outrageously edgy, maybe even more so today, even though it was released in 1969. Not for the squeamish or easily offended.

First heard this Valentine's Day about 30 years ago on a local country station's Valentine's dedication program...

I'm Gonna Miss her... (think I like the recorded/released version better, but you'll get the idea).

It was the theme song for me and my fishing buddies annual "Fish til it hurts" spring fishing trip for years!

Yup! Sounds so much better if you can't see 'em. Love the light show.

You gotta wonder what Diana Ross had to say.

The Fugs: an almost forgotten institution. Didn't know Ed made more records. Thanks!

And the general story. Yes. Good hearty fun.
plus, Jeff, Billy Joe was always up to no good.

Lol to us debating fiction or my sense of humor has to fall within some norm constraint on LTG.
Well, because the name was sometimes listed as Billie Joe, not Billy Joe, there are many theories that the jumper was female. And perhaps making it an inappropriate song for humor, the inspiration was the murder of Emmett Till.

Removed my original post. I of course would not have known that song’s history or intent.

I was driving home from dump.
song came on. I thought her vocal inflection was humorous. I knew this song to be fictional and it was enjoyable.

I apologize Jeff and Fro.

No problem. I wasn't sure why it made you smile but you didn't do anything that needed an apology.
