I assume you mean you haven't seen many chrome hollow M-75s!
Oops, yes I meant M-75

I would think it has the block, but I could be wrong.
Upon further inspection, it looks like a stud mounted bridge requiring a block and not the "foot" type bridge used on the hollow bodies.

I hope I'm around when you need to thin the herd or maybe I should just offer you a commission because your Guild sleuthing skills are much better than mine.
If it's any consolation, the bass came from Belgium. Took for ever to get here, and had to wade through quite a bit of customs red tape.

Actually, I've been waiting for a cherry Bluesbird to match my solid one and the bass, (seen here;)

But I couldn't let this one go by. I'm also into chrome over gold and I haven't seen many chrome hollow M-75's.

Hey Grot,

Just to tease you...........this is probably what you're looking for!

Gee.. thanks Hans!

I see that guitar has the "foot" bridge. I'd assume it's from the mid to late sixties?

Not looking to sell it are ya?

No, in that case it would have had the small humbuckers and those are usually gold plated.
This one is from the end of 1970 and consequently it's equipped with the big HB-1 humbuckers.

Sincerely,

No kidding!?! That beautiful M-85 bass you posted?[/quote:96171]

I'll presume to answer. My lust for Grot's '70 M-85 has been a running joke and that is the bass he says came from Belgium. Would you like to help find another one?

LOL, I actually have a friend who is on the lookout for one, so he comes first if I come across one.

I was just suprised, usually vintage guitars "travel the other way around", and I hardly see any Guilds, or at least Guild electrics over here.

Well wrong again, I guess that's why you're Hans and I'm me.

So was I at least right about the "foot" bridge and that it's completely hollow?

I'm pretty sure that's where it came from. I'm not real good at documentation. I know I found, and bought it through ebay though.

Oh, I'm not doubting you at all, just surprised is all!

But I've been surprised before in Belgium - a friend of mine had been playing harmonica in a band for a year or two when his uncle noticed "he was playing through one of those Fender amps". turns out Uncle dear had a mint condition tweed bassman (a '60) - he played his organ through it at really low volumes, and it had never left the house....

OK now it's really getting weird, I'm quoting myself!

But seriously, do you think I should wait and have it shipped after Christmas?

Opinions please? (Barbara, I think I know your answer!)

Prolly ought to wait. Holiday's a madhouse, lots of inexperienced temporary help.

That's more true than they want to admit. I worked with a guy who had written software for what we would now call a GPS Receiver. UPS liked the technology so much they bought the company the guy worked for. He stayed for several years and every fall there was a mandatory one day training session for all employees, regardless of their job description. At the session they learned how to help in a sorting facility or how to operate a delivery route. The latter included things like truck driving, loading and unloading the truck, when to cut across lawns, how to double park and not get a ticket and all of those other tricks the delivery drivers do to make sure you get your package. Anyway, since everyone was trained, they would then surge from the existing workforce. The software guys with low key products would spend most of December on the trucks while the mission critical projects only lost their staff for the week before Christmas. But for that week, there were about 10 people in an office that normally housed 150 and all the rest were on trucks or sorting packages somewhere. And you wonder why a job description for an IT position says "lift up to 50 lbs."
