Well...in a effort to get back on track with this thread, I have found a number of beaters at my local dump. There's a shed there where you can leave or take stuff that's still 'good'.
I've come away with quite a bit, as well as left some stuff ( you have to appease the Shed-Gods from time to time).
I've gotten a no-name sorprano uke, a peavey patriot bass, 2 japanese acoustics ( one is a HiLo) that look like the old harmony stella. Those are all hanging on the shop wall, as well as an early korean guitar called a Noble ( very cool rising-sun paint job on the top).
And a westerly guild JF-65 that's cut it half...the long way.
yard sales are another source for beaters...although most people think the unplayables are still worth alot of money.
And remember to talk to everybody you meet about guitars, you never know who has what sitting in an attic. A lot of guitars have been built, i'm willing to bet that most are still out there somewhere.
