I can't match the serial #?
That indicates the guitar when to refurbishment center and was given a new s/n because it was no longer under warranty. @Ralf just explained this in another thread.

I wholeheartedly agree! I thought the J and D types were the ones to have and didn't really give them much thought until my F-40 came along. It's a versatile guitar for sure.
Correct. That new number on the label shows it went through MIRC.That indicates the guitar when to refurbishment center and was given a new s/n because it was no longer under warranty. @Ralf just explained this in another thread.
No, a normal GAD-F40 has a normal 14 fret neck! You are thinking about the Padauk version which was the GAD-F40P and had a 12 fret neck!
Ralf
Started to show up in the 2006 catalog.I imagine that model was quite rare.

Feb 1, 2007 pricelist:
Still in the Jan 1, 2011 pricelist:
But production of the first generation GAD models stopped in later 2011 and was replaced by the 1xx GAD series for 2012.
So there should be quite a lot of that GAD-F-40P model around in 6 years of production.

Good call, thanks. Didn't realize there was actually a difference between 'em!No, a normal GAD-F40 has a normal 14 fret neck! You are thinking about the Padauk version which was the GAD-F40P and had a 12 fret neck!

NEVER> that was an F30 spec. Something's wrong somewhere and it's possible it may have been mislabeled before it got to MIRC and it's actually an F30.This is a picture of inside the guitar. He said it thinks it's a 2014, but obviously that's not the case because it says it was made in Tacoma. I can't match the serial #?
So does anybody familiar with the Tacoma F-40 models remember a time when they weren't 16" on the lower bout?
He is telling me that it's 15.25"
I'm rootin' for the vintage GF25 he mentioned earlier.Tacoma *is* plainly on the label.
Could definitely be mislabeled, but that's a MIRC'd guitar from Tacoma -- indeed, definitely not 2014.
I suspect some of 'em were even liquidated as simply unsold stock just to get the factory cleared out. For sure that happened when they closed Corona, and through MIRC back then, too."I can't match the serial #? "
That's because that sticker is not the original serial number. That guitar was sold as a "2nd" from the factory. It was to have had some blemish or defect that made them decide to sell it as not "new" and not come with a warranty. It could be nothing but a finish issue. You are right about it being from Washington and not from 2014 at all. That would be 2004-2008.
That's not entirely correct! This guitar and all MIRC refurbished guitar were NOT sold by the Guild factory as second to a dealer. Guild sold them to MIRC either because they had any kind of defect like a finish defect or like it happened they had too much left over stock which they would not want to deal with after closure of a Guild factory, so they sold them without warranty to MIRC. After "refurbishing" or simply relabeling (and branding as USED) MIRC sold them to a dealer and a dealer sold it as a refurbished guitar. That guitar was sold as a "2nd" from the factory. It was to have had some blemish or defect that made them decide to sell it as not "new" and not come with a warranty. It could be nothing but a finish issue.
That guitar in question definitely looks like a Tacoma F-40, look at the "flat" and wide bottom, the F-30 had a round bottom. And I bet it's 16" and the seller just quotes something he read on the internet when saying 15 1/4".... it's possible it may have been mislabeled before it got to MIRC and it's actually an F30.
Funny you should mention the pic because the bridge caught my eye. At first I thought the bridge was a give-away that it was an F30.That guitar in question definitely looks like a Tacoma F-40, look at the "flat" and wide bottom, the F-30 had a round bottom. And I bet it's 16" and the seller just quotes something he read on the internet when saying 15 1/4".
