Grace Slick and Earl Slick are not related.

But Grace Barnett Wing did marry (and later divorce) Gerald "Jerry" Slick who is not related to Earl.

But Paul McCartney did not have enough of a crush on Grace that he alluded to her when he named his post-Beatles band.

What's that saying about correlation not being causation?

"Hmmm ... pornography is of no great use if you don't own a pornograph ... " he mused quietly to himself while slyly putting in a plug for his own thread:

My cat wants to know why we put a giant cat toy (aka Christmas tree) in the living room and then won’t let him play with it.

A Winter Morning Tableau

The Porsche Cayenne, seen earlier zipping in and out of traffic, the one with its Z-Rated All Season radials, skitters quickly and gracelessly sideways across the snow-covered black ice towards my car, the Porsche’s driver’s face a Munch-like scream of, “But I’ve got all wheel drive.”

Evasive options are few but successful.

The adrenaline buzz is strong.

The snow continues to fall with silent indifference.

Driving here is just the usual insanity, but it did drop down to 27 last night. When the heat kicks in multiple times overnight, I always check in the morning. 🥶🥶 Burrrrrr..... It's a toasty 51 right now.

Out for a morning walk after snow shovelling.
-10 C and colder with wind chill.
Streets and sidewalks are treacherous.
My lips, sinuses, and fingers sting.
"Need better gloves," I think to myself.

Frigid winter streets,
Solid black ice and ruts,
Here and now, here and now,
I am one, one with the car.
In the Zen of driving,
All roads are the same --
The road to the supermarket,
The same as the road back.
It is exactly the same road.
The one hand claps.
The tea cup exists
Both empty and full.

So, now I have a big box of cookies to add to the chocolate and wine, given to me by my postal patrons.
I figure that I will be drunk and diabetic by 8 pm tonight.
Nice! (the gift part, not the diabetes part).

Against the better advice of the wife, I went out into the Christmas madness today to go to a large chain drug store.

The desperate shopper traffic congestion in the store caused me to choose an unfamiliar aisle, and I made good progress towards my ultimate goal via this detour, but then I was stopped by two shopping carts coming slowly up the aisle towards me.

As I turned around to go back, my eyes lit on the shelf to the right, seeing something that prompted the age-old and never entirely answered question to come to mind again: "Whatever happened to preparations A to G?" I had not pondered this question in years, and probably won't again for a long while.

Have you checked the adhesive isle?

I suppose not. Maybe I can put this question behind me now.
