All true, but for some it's also an excuse to get away from their wives for most of a Saturday while drinking and gambling w/ buddies under the guise of partaking in sport.

I agree! I mentioned these kind of golfers in my previous post! See the asterisks...

You forgot their propensity to smoke cigars while they drink and gamble!

I think I may have watched a guy give up golf once. I was 10 or 12, in the pool at the club and could see a guy a little ways off, not on the course, hitting golf balls so I parked myself at the side of the pool to watch what he was doing. My uncle played back then so I had a slight interest.

He must have had the balls lined up. He would swing, take a step or two and swing again.

Then he threw his golf club. Then he took another one out of his bag and threw that one, too. And another one. And another one. Then he grabbed the bag, which as far as I could tell had some clubs still in it, and threw that. Then he stomped around and jumped up and down.

If he said anything he was too far away for me to hear, and perhaps that was for the best, but I recall thinking to myself, "I believe he just quit golf".

One of my favorite Three Stooges episodes. Total destruction of a golf course...

Maybe he just wanted to buy some new equipment.

I used to play golf a lot. After I hurt my left shoulder one, hitting too many " fat " shots on a course with really hard ground, I stopped. I couldn't really use my shoulder the next day and it was sore for quite some time after that. It still flares up a good 10-12 years later.

Freezer pops, don't do summer without them.

Could be the biggest reason I'll see the other side of summer.

I've given up all desserts for years now as I fight diabetes, but I used to love freezer pops in summer! So true! Ice cream too! Miss 'em!

If it's really hot, and I'm sweating hard, an ice cold can of V-8 does the trick. Watermelon works too.

Serious sneaky storm today...hot all day then a serious pop up storm out of the blue....heavy lightning and even some hail. It was popping there for awhile.

Fruit essence flavored bottled water, no sugar, freeze your own.

ps: for fudgesicles or ice cream pops...no sugar protein drinks such as glucerna, ensure, others: all you need is a popsicle mold and some sticks.

Okay this is about as mundane as it gets. I needed new rear tires for my truck. Went to Big-O Tires and they had to order them. So bring it back tomorrow after 2. Fine. Good news is they found a credit from my last transaction and they owed me money. Not sure how that happened, but it did.

And then I got there and they got the wheels off and trying to seat the new tires and their compressor went out. I was like, "Wait, this is a tire store!! You only have ONE compressor?" One of the valves broke or something so they had to repair their equipment. So 2.5 hours waiting at Big-O Tires to get my tires put on. Talk about a mind numbing experience!!! UGH!! That's a long time to spend somewhere that doesn't serve wine or beer!!
