Guilded, what model and year is that guitar? Very cool!

1968 Silvertone that is a Coral Danelectro, but with some mild mods like vintage Gibson bridge/tailpiece, SUNN amp knobs, ugly original PG long gone. The body was made by Kawaii in Japan featuring "English Maple" and a gorgeous Spruce top, a thick veneer, the coolest looking top, that grain, burst is great also. The neck is the last of the Danelectros, Fender like headstock, sealed tuner uprgrade that is not only tolerable but appreciable.
Unplugged, it's throwing sound like there's amp somewhere.
Plugged in, it's bright, the neck p'up is HUGE, Middle position seems to work for everything, Bridge only cuts through like a knife, better than a Strat if you can believe that.
It's got some wicked mid range, really cuts through as a rhythm guitar as well.
The guitar is over the surgery now, and even more fantastic with trimmed and rolled frets, frets gone over finishing with Gorgomyte, the lighter strings intonate better. With 10-46 I was maxing out a couple of the intonation screw, the usual suspects, the G and low E.
I attribute some of the fab tone to the ABR-1 bridge, on heavy brass inserts and thumbwheels.
It's quite modded from stock to some/all purists, the bridge part in particular, which happily made it more affordable, but better IMHO than the stock monstrosity that graced it originally.
How often are you lucky enough to find a guitar that is perfectly modded to your liking, but consequently cost half as much as a nearly not as likable "original" piece. Spruced top grain nicely visible in photo of original.
Another mod I forgot about. A simple brass body reinforcing plate for output jack. Under the jack is a shocking but very convenient neatly cut rectangular hole, so very convenient for spraying out a scratchy pot. I sourced the SUNN amp knobs after a lot of knob deliberation. The import knobs on the guitar when I got it had splines that didn't jive with these, but luckily no one had hammered the ugly little buggers on there to replace the original someone lackluster knobs, that were somewhat obviously pitched at time of conversions, someone definitely fussed over this guitar.
