Dear LTGers. I ask you to keep Mr. & Mrs. West in your thoughts. I spoke with Jim about an hour ago and he was off to purchase a zero turning radius rider for his large lawn.

I understand it has a cup holder...

 The good thing about it Ken is that when you take your hands off the levers (steering wheel), it stops!

Time for a trailer! I'm looking for a used one here myself...

Yep, I'd considered that. They're delivering it here in about an hour, but I do need a trailer. Zero turn TORO 42" cut with a 22 hp, 600 cc, 4 stroke Kawasaki engine. Look out, this sucker mows at 7 mph. My brother told me I'd wonder why they even sell lawn tractors anymore. He's got a 50" TORO.....loves it. I was considering a Deere, but he talked me smooth out of it. I won't be drinking coffee while I mow.....cold Corona maybe......she does have a cup holder!

When I was 16, I bought my dad's old worn out '66 Chevy, after that, a love affair with Chevrolet that spanned over 3 1/2 decades. When Mrs. West and I were married, she was driving a Dodge Ram pickup, not long after we were married (5 years), I bought her a Chevy Tahoe for our anniversary. I tehn took the helm of the first non-Chevy I'd ever driven. The Dodge was a very strong truck, but I never thought it was as well built as my Chevy trucks had been. There was little doubt in my mind that I would always be a Chevy truck guy.

Then the bail out, problems with more than one Chevy dealers in my area. I was well aware that Mrs. West's Tahoe was "Assembled in Mexico", says so right on the spec tag, but our good friend Scratch reminded me that Toyota Tundras were built right here in San Antonio, Texas.......now ain't that somethin'? Then I drove one.....about 5 in fact. Anyway, the throttle hasn't stuck yet! :D Absolutely love it.

Two of the supervisors own Toyotas out at work, both have over 300,000 miles on them, both are 80's models. One of the guys has a house painting sideline, the other is a professional hunting guide on one of the big ranches down south, both trucks have been through hell. It's pretty hard to argue Toyotas quality and toughness, though there's a pretty good campaign going on against them now.......gotta find some way to compete......especially with the gov. being the owner.

My Toyota PU has 240,000 miles on it, runs like a top (whatever that means), but it's nowhere near as photogenic as yours.

Happy trails,
Joe

They're not the Toyota trucks of old it seems Joe (just bigger, that's all)......I hope that's a good thing.

Joe, I've been trying to get a shot for you, but it's just not in the cards. I try every single evening, but inevitably, something doesn't work out.

To someone that lives in Illinois or around the Chesapeake, this would be boring, but to a Texas waterfowl hunter, just absolutely incredible.

Every evening, between 7:30 and 8:00 pm for I'd say the last 50 nights, we've had a flight of Canadas fly treetop level right over the house. Some nights they honk like crazy and some, they never make a peep. They fly south to north and roost on the lake about 1/2 mile north of here. I've tried everything, either I'm looking away, they come by at a different angle, the camara won't turn on in time, but I never can catch them while I'm prepared. I tried this evening, but didn't have much luck.....you'll have to squint to see them top left.....just of the far right rain gutter corner  . Tonight, they passed just on the other side of the roof.

"To do" lists don't come with an end. It's more like no end in sight.
I always refer to our place as "a work in progress," and a few other names I can't use here.
But it's home and you know all the cliches about those places we call "home."
