"It's a strong wind that blows against the empire". 5 brownie points for the first correct reference.killdeer43 said:I like it SG. Two songs in one! :wink:southernGuild said:Talkin 'Bout DIAMONDS on the Soles of her shoes! ............................ 8) "Who am i to blow against the wind?"

Popular fore-runner of the Converse Chuck Taylors ... the Joe Lapchick Playmakers.adorshki said:... I have been a loyal Converse fan for many years, but within the last 10 years they had to declare re-organization bankruptcy, relocate a significant portion if not all their manufacturing to China ... Chucks sadly just ain't what they used to be. Specifically the soles ain't as thick and well padded as they used to be.
They had another one? China wasn't the only one? OK another 5 points for anyone who can remember what Grace told the nurse the baby's name was.taabru45 said:Pretty Slick, Joe. Steffan

Well, I jump to this but I can't find any explicit statement of where Kantner and Company (a.k.a. Jefferson Starship) got the title or how "wind" gets into it. I always thought of "Blows" Against the Empire as punches or some kind of damage.adorshki said:"It's a strong wind that blows against the empire". 5 brownie points for the first correct reference.
Awww. You noticed.adorshki said:Since Frono started this thread and it could be legitimately related to his other "What's in a brand?" threads,
Following this veer, I'm running off memory here, it's in the booklet that came with the original pressing, which I have, if not also an actual lyric, and is why I remembered it along with Taabru and Killdeer. HOWEVER, given Paul's known radical politics I'm SURE the album title was an entirely intentional double entendre, or are you just baiting me? Just goes to show ya ya can't trust those Wikis for everything.... :lol:fronobulax said:Well, I jump to this but I can't find any explicit statement of where Kantner and Company (a.k.a. That wasn't Kevin, that was me citing Kevin! I just want my credit where it's due, 'cause occasionally I get quotes attributed to me that aren't mine.. I know it's just quoting mistake but still.... 8) So here's some current Converse product:Thunderface said:Bluelizzard said:as Kevin the Bass Man pointed out, "the soles ain't as thick and well padded as they used to be."
