If I did want to sell my D35...

I'm seriously considering selling my 1980 D35...

It has the LR Baggs pickup on it... and is pretty close to mint condition. There's a few superficial scratches on the front (recently aquired when my nephew played it and missed the pick-guard with his pick). But I think those can be buffed out. The tuners were replaced about 15 years ago, and the bridge was re-glued at that time. The folks who put in the LR Baggs pickup system (about 3 months ago) LOST the internal label. I'm sure the glue had dried out so it was probably about ready to fall out, but JEESH, the could have kept it for me. But the serial number is clearly imprinted on the headstock.

Otherwise, it's a gem... I am the original owner. I purchased it from Welhaven Music in Rochester, Minnesota in 1980. The tone is really wonderful -- and the balance between the treble and bass strings couldn't be more perfect. The action is really nice as well.

So here are two questions -- about what should I think about asking for it? And, is there anyone here who might be interested? I'd like to keep it in the family if at all possible and sell it to someone who would really appreciate it.

I still haven't totally made up my mind, but I have too many guitars, and I think it's time to let one of them go...

I don't think it's that nobody wants to buy it Carol, I think it's that everyone wants you to keep it. :)

My husband says the same thing... he wants me to keep it... but we're moving to a new house and I'm looking at this HEAP of musical instruments -- and the only thing I play anymore is my fiddles... And I'm feeling like my guitars are sad... just collecting dust...

You don't have a PM button. I too am houseward-ho, but I've been wanting an acoustic Guild for quite a while. Think it over and I'll see if I can handle something like this.

It's difficult to sell anything now. No one is interested in the nice guitars I have for sale either.

Maybe you CAN keep it. Then, while you fiddle, someone else can shake off the fairy dust and play your nice Guild. :D

Jane FTW!

Hey Carol, the timing is wrong. A couple of months ago, I would have been all over the d35, but I bought a D-40 about then. My music space is too small for another guitar, without getting rid of one, although I might be able to sneak one of those rubber string mini-basses in.

It's a cruddy time to sell gear.

Carol - as you know I already have a D35 - but although the fiddle is your great love at the moment - you might want to pick up the guitar again and you say you have other guitars - KEEP THE GUILD and get rid of one of the others :!: Otherwise you'll mourn the old D35 you used to have and got rid of

I suppose you're all right... I'd probably regret it down the road... So I guess I'm doomed to carry around 5 guitars... and 3 keyboards, and 2 autoharps, and a banjo, and 5 tin whistles... that I don't play... for now... Good grief! Maybe I should just go ahead and open a music shop!
